Well it looks like it's time for a mouse replacement for me. It's gotta be a Logitech (my preference), comfortable, black, have lots of buttons/features, and I don't really ming if it's one of those that you have to charge. So you guys can start shouting some model no's at me now . :)

MX1000 is the last I heard. Is there anything newer?

If you want to go wired, you can't go wrong with the Logitech G5. The wireless version of this mouse is the Logitech G7.

Your ideal mouse, however, would be the Logitech MX Revolution

Overview

The world´s most advanced mouse.

Smarter, faster, and fully-loaded, the MX™ Revolution gives you powerful new controls that will streamline the way you work. Logitech´s innovative MicroGear™ Precision Scroll Wheel lets you fly through long documents at hyperspeed, or switch to precise click-to-click scrolling for navigating lists, slides, and image collections. Toggle between open documents with the convenient Quick-Flip thumb wheel, or search the Web by highlighting a word or phrase and pressing the Search button.

New, revolutionary, hyper-fast scroll wheel

Spacer

A new concept in PC navigation, the MicroGear™ Precision Scroll Wheel operates in two distinct modes, allowing you to scroll faster and with more precision than ever before:

Free-spin mode for hyper-fast, nearly frictionless scrolling. With a single flick, the machined alloy wheel spins for up to seven seconds, scrolling hundreds of pages or thousands of rows. Fly through long documents, and instantly stop wherever you want.

Click-to-click mode for detailed navigation. An ultra-precise ratchet-scrolling mechanism allows users to move line-by-line through complex spreadsheets, step through slideshows, or travel small vertical distances in documents or Web pages.

I don't want wired any more. I wanna give wireless a try. Dom, any links to good prices for the MX Revolution?

Flippin hell, R870 for a mouse?? I still want it tho. How long does it take for prices to come down? Say to about R600 or so.

I got the MX Revolution from Digitalplanet for R833.

The MX Revolution is the upgrade to the MX 1000

@DagegeN
Look at the Logitech® G3 Laser Mouse for a lefties gaming mouse.

looks like a over priced MS mouse :D
besides the G5 mouse fits nicely ... in my left hand "my thumb is where you would place your pinkie finger & my ring finger is placed where your thumb will be & my index finger is on the left button "... only down thing is i can't use the side buttons
"think i must take a picture to explain this one " :D

I have a G7, much better bet than the revolution I believe. There is absolutley no battery worries. The battery lasted about four hours of intensive gaming at a lan. After that I just popped in the other battery which was charging in the usb receiver(takes about 1 hour) and of you go again. What do you do if your MX revolution's battery dies? Sit around for two hours while it is recharging.

Mine is silver and a dark green. I believe there is a special edition carbon one out as well with a carry bag.

I have a G7 to and I can tell you now, the MX Revolution's battery last me twice as long as the G7 does.

But having said that, I use the G7 for gaming and the Revolution for general computer stuff.

As I said earlier the MX Revolution is the upgrade to the MX 1000. The G5 (G7) is the upgrade to the MX 518.

Best wired Logitech mouse = G5
Best wireless Logitech mouse = G7
Trust me, I've used just about every mouse out there (whether I wanted to or not) so I can say this with a lot of confidence. I currently use a G5 with a G15 keyboard.

I've had an MX1000 for almost 2 years now and although its a great mouse the battery has started to deteriorate quite badly. I now get about a weeks use out of it whereas before it used to go on for months.***

*** Based on an average of 5 hours use every day.

Most comfortable, cordless, mouse with decent enough feature (no really for gaming) is the V500 cordless, notebook mouse.

Battery lasts forever (I use re-chargeable ones) and has left to right scrolling as well.

Normally between R500 to R600. If you are in Johannesburg, check out CAPI International electronics store at the Johannesburg airport domestic departures terminal - I bought one on special for R220.

This is my second one - the first one cost me R450, but was stolen. Comes in black, or silver.

Yeah, I've had my MX1000 for about that time now too, though, lately she's started skipping..
