Best Mobile GPS?

Quick poll to those who actually use these:

Which mobile phone with embedded GPS do you believe provides the best GPS capability?

I normally use a Garmin with a cell phone as back-up. Up to now used a N95 but wondering if there's a better option out there?

Also, anyone know who has the best maps for Eastern Europe? I've got Garmin's 2008 maps, but I need more detail.

I dont particularly like mobile phones with built in GPS's - it just doesn't work right and then it drains the battery.

The N82's navigation system seemed much better than the N95's I had previously. (Both with the latest firmware), the N82 seemed to lock on faster.

My most favorite navigation software is Garmin Mobile XT. I have a version running on my Samsung i780 - but I can't get it to activate for some reason. Going to have to call them tomorrow sometime to get it working...

I'm using Garmin Mobile XT on an N95, and I'm pretty happy. Lock on delays, but otherwise a great system.

I use the HTC P3600i with Tom Tom 6

I've used it in SA and UK and will be using it in the US next month - found the maps very good so far.

The GPS is a fair load on the battery, but when I've used it for long periods it's been plugged into the car charger so no issue there.

I'm looking at getting the latest Tom Tom wide screen one - if they're still on the market - I recall reading something on the forum that they were getting out of the GPS market.

I tested someone's Nokia 6110 Navigator with built in GPS.
It picked up sattelites in the house where my Garmin Nuvi 200 had dificulty to pickup sattelites.

Depends on the GPS IC used. Apparently the siRF III is the best It uses something called SYNTHETIC EPHEMERA -- this allows it to acquire signal a LOT quicker and lock on a lot longer. Especially in built up areas.

As I understand it , the problem with GARMIN is that they use a proprietary GPS "sentence" protocol -- this is locked to their mapping. ie.to use a "Garmin" map data set one must use a Garmin hardware device. The map is also unlocked via the serial number of a SPECIFIC Garmin hardware unit.

Not sure what type of maps the GPS enabled hand sets use , or what types of GPS chips , or even what type of business model is being used with this new entrant to the field of consumer handheld GPS Have NOT had any of these to play around with.

V3G How about an UPDATED FAQ to include this topic and the VC SATNAV offering ???? You are obvioulsy a USER of the technology and savvy about it. I really think that very shortly such an FAQ is going to be indispensible.

DO you take a Laptop along with you ? Lots of GPS devices around to attach to that ( USB , Bluetooth , WiFi ) -- bigger scrteen to do your pre-route planning -- and print out some hard copy maps. ( for the TAXI Driver )

BB 8310 - Best of all IMO! (Hope Vodafone Satnav implements it in their other phones, will definatley give Vodafone branded phones more credibility!)
Waiting on the C702, will let you know.
Im currently using Nav4all, maybe im just used to it.
