Best network for iPhone?

mtn has wider EDGE coverage, so you're more likely to be able to use edge on mtn than on vodacom. virgin also has a pretty wide edge coverage...

Best network for the iPhone?... thats an easy one to answer...

AT&T....

i dunno then. maybe its the virgin sim cards. either way, i get edge on virgin and i almost never get edge on vodacom.

Cell C's network has Edge and Virgin uses Cell C as their main network hence the Edge.

Damn Vodacom? It's not their fault that Apple implemented stale technology. :/

true, but wouldnt i have been nice if we could use proper edge on vodacom more often back in the day when edge was the latest tech? vodacom didnt really perform on the edge scene ever...

LOL I'm happy that Vodacom included Edge in my area about 2 years ago just after HSDPA :)

lucky. i have gprs and sometimes 3g, depending on whether vodacom feels like being nice to me that day.

Why would vodacom have implemented EDGE when they were already implementing 3G and then HSDPA? They just jumped a technology generation of sorts....

I wondered that myself...

I remember first having the "3G enabled' message then "3G and HSDPA" and finally "3G, HSDPA and edge enabled" that was a great day since my Nokia only had edge at the time and I got a nice speed boost :) (ahh pleasant memories)

OH I had a fairly similar thing, my phone only supported edge but I was getting 3G enabled messages from the tower. Didn't really phase me in any way tbh, since edge and 3G don't really qualify as decent internet connections anyway. HSDPA is the way forward and I love my phone now that it supports it :D..

So unless Apple comes to the party and brings an HSDPA enabled phone, they can keep it as far as I'm concerned. Oh and it better be 7.2Mbps enabled or its too far behind the technology curve to be relevant.
