Best phone for R5K?

What would you regard as the best phone currently on the market for R5K? I think that is a fairly popular price point.

1. Local or import acceptable
2. Absolute max price R5,5k - ALL in - not R5501
3. New prefered but used acceptable - less than 6months old and in 9,9 condition ( no micro chips or hairline scratches)
4. Be realistic - The Note9 would be best but will never be at that price point

I had a used Note9 but I was only willing to sell for R5502.00. When I saw your post now I mentioned it to my tjommie and he has just bought it from me for R5501.00

Look on Gearbest or SunSky. Budget R1200 (R300-R400) for delivery and possible duties (about R800 at the most). For R2K you will get a pretty good phone and for R4K you will get a damn fine phone.

I don't know the Pocophone but got a Doogee S60 from Gearbest last year and in for just over R4k.

Very happy with the phone, fast, loads of storage, decent camera and battery that lasts 2 days even with heavy usage.

Other than the wait (a few weeks depending on customs) well worth the exercise.

Personally I'm on Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite but that cause I dont ever play games on my phone. So the R2500 covers all my needs, would have loved to have USB-C on my phone but that is about it.

P20 lite is more in line with my Mi A2 Lite thats R2500 Over at Gearbest Doesnt even touch the Pocophone.

I just bought the wife a Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, cost roughly R2600 IIRC, so very affordable. Granted it was on special overseas while we were travelling (Ukraine) - normal price would be about R3500 I think, and you can get it from the usual Chinese websites. She's quite happy with it. Snappy processor, 64 GB of storage, decent camera, nice screen size.

Seen the Poco but it was a bit more expensive, and since the wife isn't a power-user, I saw no reason to spend the extra cash.
