I'm in the market for a new pool cleaner and need some feedback on what is the best cleaner to buy?

My pool is about 75000 L and is kidney shaped(8m x 3m).

I currently use a Zodiac (basic model) but the thing does not clean everywhere.

I've read a lot of negative reviews about the Zodiac MX8 so not keen on getting this model ( also a bit expensive).

Any feedback /advice will be welcomed.

I went to builders and bought one for around R600(cant remember the name) It comes in a yellow box and it just works and works and works.

I had a barracuda pacer before and it kept on getting stuck on the same corner. Was a real nightmare. Put in a Barracuda Genius yesterday and it's running like a charm.

So it helps to not use the bottom of the range model.

I see Makro has the Genius on special for R999 incl 6 hoses.

Barracuda... old faithful... works every time and spares available everywhere..

what ever you do don't buy that tank thing... the one with the tracks, know two mate who have tossed them already.

No model is better than the other, they all depend on your suction / pressure.

That being said ensure your pool is well clear of blowing sand, grass, leaves etc. Invest in a solar blanket / cover to prevent anything blowing into the pool. Fibreglass Pools are generally easier to clean than Marble Plaster pools.

Get yourself a vacuum hose, pole and 8 wheeler. Very therapeutic to clean the pool manually (yourself).

I own a swimming pool shop ;)

Yeah, that's what I paid for mine.

I disagree, my bottom of the range model continually got stuck on the same corner so much so that I had to drastically reduce the pipe length so that it couldn't reach that corner at all. Which in the end meant that I had to manually clean that section of the pool. Then when it's diaphragm finally packed up I decided to try out the Genius I had stored away. I reset the pipe lengths to the maximum length + 1 pipe and I left it running. It cleaned every inch of my pool without ever getting stuck for longer than a few seconds.

TL DR: Pacer got stuck continuously, Genius does not. You get what you pay for.
