If this cluster of obsolete registries , unused and temporary files increases , its obvious that your system will slow down ...
like if u have huge amount of unwanted cluster in your hard disk , its spinning speed will decrease.
If u want more lively example , lets take your room - if its too messy , will you like it? You surely won't .

I don't see how temporary files has anything to do with the registry. Why would spinning speed decrease if there is a huge amount of unwanted cluster on one's hard disk? I would have expected the opposite has you would be going through a huge amount of unwanted cluster the whole time in what you are saying.

How does the registry come into context with your example? Maybe fragmentation of a hard drive but not the registry.

But why not with registry? If registry has lot of obsolete cluster in the registry , my example does suite it.

Anyways, I do confess I'm yet to learn things (as I've said earlier in one of my previous posts) . hehe
And thanks for good piece of information , DJNgoma :p . Now my single sentence about registry cleaner's advantage would be "it removes obsolete and corrupt registry entries" .

Anish, you need to brush up very considerably on basic information technology! The disk spins on blithely unaffected by whether it's full or empty, whether the stuff is wanted or unwanted. As to the Windows registry, you can add 100,000 lines of useless registry 'clutter' without affecting the system one jot - it all depends what exactly the entry is calling or pointing to. One or a million left over fragments uncalled and unpointed is/are ineffectual. But one bad entry can kill the system.

Most registry cleaners in the hands of people who don't understand what they're doing are (a) largely ineffectual, self-reporting their own 'efficiency' so the user feels he's cleaned his system, or (b) cause even more damage.

My own advice is stay away from registry cleaners unless you really know what you're doing. If you don't know what HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Classes/386 does then stay away.

Win7 reg cleaners are entirely unnecessary.

Reg cleaners simply do not help.

Archive your registry and see how big it is.... slicing a few mb(kb?) off it by trimming unwanted stuff will simply not improve anything.

I use a application called ZSoft Unisntaller which I run before installing stuff, it does a comparison for before & after changes to the filesystem and registry allowing you do do a better uninstall should the need arise.
