Best Robot Vacuum

Bought the NannyVac J01 month ago. It's frustratingly not up to expectations for a R7k model. The drop sensor does not work even with a fake wall on app. After mapping it cleans in zigzag as if there's an item restricting it. It occasionally searches for the charging station. Below picture shows a half lounge and dining cleaned on a full charge as it get stuck cleaning in circles. Ps.. I have level floor tiles only and very very little furniture - performance should have been better. The suction power is great though.

Thanks for sharing. Confirms my fears and I will not be buying into the bargain bin...

Just buy Xiaomi, it’s the same thing as Roborock and available locally.

I agree that the Xiaomi are quite good, but it is not "the same thing". Roborock S7 (MaxV ultra) plays in a different league (best in class and auto raising mop). If I invest in such an expensive thing I kinda want the best for my money. And the auto clean station of the MaxV Ultra would be a real benefit.

Neato is closing down

Surprised, this has not happened sooner. They have not built a new vacuum in 7 years.

Hopefully, this means we will be seeing more D Shaped (superior) vacuums from the other manufacturers soon.

Is the above advice still valid, a year later? Has anyone had any new/more experiences to share around these things or should I keep my research to the Xiaomi's?

This X20+ is on a whole other level compared to the non-Lidar unit I had before.

It did a quick scan of the house which means no vacuuming just runs around to build a map and then got 95% of it.

Now it’s doing its full first proper clean after a charge and I haven’t heard/seen it do the bump into things move even once.

I see there is an option to enabled it to be more hardcore and do that but I’ll leave it alone for now.

Water Level 2/3 seem unnecessarily heavy on water so just moved it down to Level 1.

Purposely left a lot of stuff laying about including some cords and it’s yet to moan and tell me it’s stuck.

So far very impressed.

Huh? That’s exactly what the X20+ does. Raises mop, selfs cleans, self empties etc.

The X10+ is slightly fancier in that it has carpet detection and then raises the mop, whereas the X20+ needs to be told about carpets.

Non-feature for me with the price difference and I won’t even mark them as I have thin loose carpets and don’t mind them getting a bit of mop action.

I’m willing to bet it’s the exactly the same thing just in a slightly different package for different markets etc.

Xiaomi pretty much founded Roborock so it’s all cross pollination.

My bad I just realised this was an ancient post and I was somehow in the wrong thread.

One thing I didn’t realise is that it has a disposable bag, which I’m sure you can re-use a few times with some effort, just like I do with my Karcher vacuum.

But it raises the question where’s the best place to source replacement parts and maintenance items?

Logical answer is Xiaomi directly, but I just know someone here will have a trust sourced with better prices.

Syntec, or Amazon I still have my S2 Xiaomi my robot vacuum. Works like a charm.

Temu? They sell a lot of spares including bags.

EDIT: why are you cross posting everything?

Different audiences.

But yeah in the past I found the Chinese import route to be a bit off with these things hence wondering about local.

Import not the co.za one parts for s2 around around R600 with tax shipping.
Let me know if you're looking for replacements would be interesting to see costs from supplier here on the x20+

Yeah Syntec seems to be the one stop shop that has it all in one.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Makro carries it all too, will look deeper when it become necessary.

My R6000 Dreame L10 Prime even has carpet detection with auto raising rotating mops.

@Tinuva I've got the integration with the X20+ working happily in Home Assistant to show the map but when I try to do a room based clean I first get a weird popup showing a long list with multiple Rooms entries.

But when I try to start it against a room I just get a failure.

I seem to recall some hack you needed to make to fix something and I'm wondering if this was the issue you had?

Sounds familiar yes. Check for errors in the logs when you try this
