Best site to get Linux Software/codecs

Hey guys, im a Linux noob, so plz excuse me, but where can i get software for Linux Mint 11? Or what site has the best list of codecs and softwares etc.. Thanks!

Yeah, basically its a big '"add and remove programs" type application. Except most possible applications that you can install are listed there and you just select what you wanna try.

Look at "Software Management", there are thousands of applications listed there, everything you should ever need to get you going.

In Ubuntu you have this, Mint will be similar:

yeah ubuntu works different to windows. The software is found in a software centre like android or the iphone store. there is very little that you need to download through your web browser

my debian install plays all media i have thrown at it with the below. being a debian derivative, i would assume mint should have similar packages
