Best sounding exhaust note

Howzit all,

So last night after a few beers an argument erupted with my fellow car lovers, which car emits the best sounding exhaust note.

1. engines under 2L
2. engines under 3L
3. engines under 4L
4. engines under 5L
5. engines over 5L

:)
 
By far the best sound would be the older 6 cylinder BMW's 328 upwards. Also the Ford XR6 engines. I would go for any 3L + with a V6 engine. V8's just sound too American like (Muscle car sound) *IMHO*
 
my top 5 was a mixture of undecisiveness.

engines under 2L = JCW
engines under 3L = Golf gti 'fart'
engines under 4L = was between the E46 CSL and the RS3
engines under 5L = previous gen RS4 and E92 M3
engines over 5L = anything with AMG63.

Audi TT-RS 2.5L I5
Maserati GranTurismo Sport 4.7L V8
Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 5.2L V10
Ferrari F12 Berlinetta 6L V12 or Lamborghini Murcielago SV 6.5L V12 (can't decide)

Not going to try and rank things via engine capacity, but I will say why are we only using mostly stock road cars?

I love the Audi Quattro 2.5 5cylinder... I would place it a close second to the Skyline GTR RB26
 
VR6!!! > 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.

The only car from VW that is worth it.

1. engines under 2L - Ford 1.0 Liter EcoBoost in Formula Ford
2. engines under 3L - Civic Type R, just cause I can) :).. Nah A45 AMG
3. engines under 4L - Nissan GTR
4. engines under 5L - BMW M5
5. engines over 5L - Lamborghini Aventador
 
i know its a DUD car... but the old vr6 purrr still gives me goose bumps!
