HI all. I need to upgrade my streaming box. (Currently using a mygica 405 pro and it's starting to show its age.) Is there a general consensus on what's the best box? I also have a Firestick (2nd gen) on the downstairs TV and it's also starting to struggle.

I would recommend an Nvidia shield, if you have the funds.

Think it's around R3.800 for the pro, to have it delivered to your door through Amazon.

That is the top of the line but costs you. I might get a NUC next for my workspace at home to stream while I work, otherwise something else with an actual lan port like tube nvidia shield.

You get a lan port with the ematic as well. Which is why I'd recommend the ematic over a mi box. They're pretty much the same in every other regard...
What about the mecool

For starters for me:
Lan port?
Gaming Streaming?

GS was the main reason I went with the pro.
Ah ok. I don't need either of those. Was using a USB to lan convertor on the Mi Box before they fixed the WiFi issues it had. Now there is no need for it.

I’ve got a Mibox S and it’s struggggggling to run very few apps like Kodi etc…
Even with a usb Ethernet dongle, it just doesn’t seem to have the horsepower really.

When my Mrs starts to say that the thing is slow, then you guys must know that it’s slow.

Im considering the shield also…

I like the Shield TV Pro, but for something cheaper you can also consider the Chromecast with Google TV:
It's about R1400 locally.

hhanks for the recs everyone. How does the shield work with gaming streaming? Does it stream from my pc over my home network so I can play on the tv? Don't have as much time to game as I used to but I still regret giving my kids my Switch. :-)

Is there a difference between these two ematic boxes? They look identical to me, but I don't get why they would have two separate pages and different prices.

Ematic

Better to watch the tutorials.

That Mecool/Ematic is a good option. Mibox is overrated. Stay away.
