Since you pay for the month in advance, when is the best time to cancel the service, ensuring that you get the most out of your month, without them billing you next month.

They don't do automated cancellations, or planned cancellations. I think it's pretty much just before their debit orders run.

Does anyone know the day?

DSTV is not received well or loved here. I expect most of the responses will be immediately. :p

I know, I know. But the debit order has already run, so I'm in it for September at least.

Was just keen to find out the most optimal time so that I can get teh most out of September.

Cut your losses, leave now and burn the decoder.
Even if you can make money off of the sale, BURN IT!!!!!!!!!!

DSTV is prepaid so it doesn't really matter what time you cancel.

I don't think it is. They take the amount for the full month in advance. If you cancel they won't give you the money back?

Ha ha ha. Yeah. It's just getting too expensive and there are better things to spend money on these days.

If you cancel and they owe you money, they will keep in credit for you until you mail in on their forum, or call them and ask for a refund.

The OP indicated that he still wish to receive the service during September which he already paid for so there is no refunds applicable.

Also bear in mind that your decoder insurance is not cancelled by default. You'll have to specify if you do not want any account from DSTV.

Cancelled mine on Saturday, the debit order still went off on the 1st. Phoned them and they gave me 2 options, wait 72 hours for them to verify and reverse (which could also take a few days) or ask my bank to reverse it (same day back apparently). Only thing is, FNB has no option in online banking to do this and phoning them will incur charges.

As far as I know.
It should be 4 working days before your next debit.

You can let them know about four days before that to cut the Dstv subs immediately, they will then just switch you off from the feed and no more reruns... sorry meant premium contents that you wont miss an episode of for the next 2 years, even if you only watch it twice a month
