Hi,

I recently changed to an Axxess "just uncapped" 4Mbps uncapped package @ R496 and the shaping so far on downloads have been brutal. I barely get 1.6Mbps during file downloads as from day 1.

I read some of the mixed feedback on another thread about the Openweb packages and was considering to rather change to their "Lite Uncapped" package @ R495 for a 4Mbps connection - they claim unshaped while in the 80% portion of users.

I download about 30-40GB per month on average - What is the best uncapped 4Mbps package available in your experience?

Appreciate any advice.

P.S. I have a 8Mbps line.

If you are only downloading 30-40GB monthly, rather get a capped package. Afrihost still has the 50GB deal for R475, then you can get full use of your 8mb line too. If you want to try this orb isp, thats fine - I guess we need some guinea pigs :D

If you want to go uncapped I could definitely recommend OpenWeb, especially their Gold packages. You just won't be able to get full use out of your line then (4Mb max).

I am a fan of Cybersmart. For what you want, this is your answer: R799 per month (including your line rental) gives you up to 10 mbps line plus a 15 GB cap *AND* unlimited downloads each night from 2am to 5am (i.e. doesn't count towards your 15GB cap) - and they are UNSHAPED. In other words, you will get pretty close to line speed for all your traffic types.

I also recommend Openweb Gold, I've switched between Mweb, and Afrihost and now Openweb Gold, and I must say, I've been doing quite a bit http/ftp downloads, and each time, I get full line speed.

There are times where it does get a little congested, but I think that's Vodacom Businesses' fault. For the most part, nighttime, is a dream, and for me at least, daytime is a [day]dream too... lekker speed, fair to good latency.

I've sent you a PM.

For those looking into joining Orb, this may be of interest
5.Why do I need to transfer my ADSL line to Orb ISP?

We require the ADSL line part to be managed by us, this gives you a "One Stop Shop" for support and technical assistance on your
ADSL line and data package and you benefit from the simplicity of paying one bill.
