Hi,

I am in the process of looking for a wireless modem that will serve my home networking needs and wanted to find out what model of wireless modem you think is most suitable for the job.
Baring in mind that I don't know too much about Wireless Modems, these are my requirements.

  1. I live in a small double story place, with wooden floors. The wireless phone is able to make contact on both levels, but the wireless modem will have to do the same so that someone on the ground floor can use the internet as well as someone on the upper floor.
  2. I would like to be able to connect my Nokia N95 8Gb to a wireless network and play my music.
  3. My current modem kills my network if I use any kind of peer to peer software, so the wireless modem should not be affected by any software running something like free download manager.
  4. Most importantly, the modem I have at the moment does not allow me to make a DynDNS connection, so the wireless modem I will buy needs to be able to make that connection.

I am all ears :)
Thanks!

Are you looking for an ADSL modem/router combo with integrated WiFi? If so, I recommend the Netgear DGN2000. Google it.

My DGN2000 has problems with torrents. Give it a day and the smiley faces turn red or yellow. A reboot of the modem sorts this out. I have tried different firmwares and everything to try and sort this problem out, because besides this issue it is a fantastic modem. At the moment I am running it in DMZ mode and it is running ok so far but obviously one doesn't want to run in DMZ mode.

DMZ? You are brave!

Yeah I know. Mainly just for troubleshooting, I will replace it with the Billion 7800N when I get a chance. I do have Commodo installed though so that will have to do for now.
