Better upload speed needed

Same boat here... 1Mbps upload would make my life a lot easier. VDSL isn't available in our area and max ADSL is 4Mbps (although the router has attainable rates of 12Mbps) :-(

Surely its merely a software config?

No. You'll need additional physical network capacity to handle the additional traffic.

Surely you would be after a BDSL line?
Since both the upload and download speed are the same.

Depends on the standard of ADSL used, but 1Mbps would be the max

surely the MSAN rollout will make it possible for Telkom to offer reasonably priced SHDSL though?

Or just lease the copper and let guys figure out ways to run long reach ethernet products ...

ok im adding my two cents.

Uploads facts - we need better uploads I agree. My line drops if upload full rate, manually set it to 512kbps on mikrotik.

However Telkom doesnt test this for real world applications when do there trails. they give it to a area and not to people like myself that of course upload regularly (18GB uploaded last four days). Most people dont need it.

however I would rather pay for 4mbps down and 2mbps up than a 10mbps down and 1mbps up.

another interesting note is VDSL2. company I work for has implemented a VDSL solution at a hotel and we get 90mbps downloads and between 18-40mbps uploads. not bad.

Fibre needs to be implemented more.

Fibre to MSAM or what ever. you should be able to say ok i dont need fibre so ill stick to copper and as well say i want fibre and then can lay it with ease.

lucky for me my work has 20mbps fibre connection and most of clients as well so I normally can let large files uploads that way. I use a normal 10mbps adsl line at home and has been ok until now but im strongly considering finding good alternative. fibre bit too pricey still and diginet is stupidly high priced.

side note. I would also like to know why one cant use two lines. one is upload and other download. I could see this being beneficial in my case. I have mikrotik and know how to route and so forth.

That is not good.
My options are thus limited to the 20Mbps line if I want at least 1Mbps up speed? Will I be able to upgrade to that package if you consider the following?

2. Router setup:

No need to be on ADSL2+, you can switch over to normal ADSL (you will get better stats)

For the love of god reboot that router!

ADSL2 does have a upload rate of 1Mb/s, but obviously Telkom doesnt use the ADSL2 standard, But ADSL(GDMT)/ADSL2+ does support upload speeds of 1Meg, so it must be limited by telkom.

Okay, I'm glad you didn't see what the uptime was now, you'd probably have had a heart attack or something. I wasn't aware that I had to reboot it, I just left it on.

If I change the DSL Modulation Type to ADSL it does not connect, it was set to Auto sync-up.

The router has the following options to choose from:

Auto sync-up
T1.413
G.dmt
ADSL2
ADSL2+

Sorry, I'm terrible, didn't notice the G.dmt is the ADSL option.

This is the new stats:

See even your router proves that the max attainable rate is 1meg for upload but telkom DO limit it.

I use my Telkom Mobile account if I upload large files, it reaches speeds between 1 and 2Mbps.

My stats, would kill for a bit more upload speed (full attainable rate would make life much easier!)

Phoned Telkom on Friday, they can't upgrade my profile as the exchange doesn't support this, and they can't increase the upload spped without upgrading the profile. *Rock & Hard Place
