Beware high roaming bills

The main thing to remember is that people elsewhere in the world don't have the need for a cellphone to function as a modem etc.

They have proper and affordable ADSL at home.

They think we are mad using cellphones for bulk data. Which we are indeed, thanks to Telkom, Poison Ivy and ICASA.

Reminder to self to always use WI-FI or go to a copy shot to send power point presentation ...

I think I am going to go WI-FI all over my house, in that way I do not need anything else ;P

we had our managing director go overseas with his data card and the company ended up to fork out R15000 for data card fees!!! crazy, but someone should have looked at alternatives, at least it wasn't my money :D

+1 Well said.

Roaming in Kenya once I made an 30min call to Zambia with my MTN sim R900  (R30/min)

While in Zambia a few years ago with my SA MTN was billed R55/min

Make sure you can check your calls online with your service provider,
it makes you buy that local sim card pretty quick and divert all voice calls to mailbox.

Carry a spare cheapy phone for local sim card where you are roaming.
