BEWARE!..N West pothole count at 5 648 ..... Eek!

True, but I think too the major arteries were built with this traffic in mind...so national routes are holding out, it is on the linking minor roads where the dammage is done, esp where there is a lot of mining and such

Sorry, don't smoke crack...

Hey, ..whats this, back to topic please!

Potholes coem about from heavy rains accompanied by overloaded trucks not suited for spacific roads.

Roads in MP are the worst - trucks cannot drive on them anymore as they are simply undrivable!

THe biggest problem is that govt. tenders are handed to BEE companies started by a friend who then outsources the work to another friend who gets people off the street who are not capable to do the work required. People think its as simple as laying tar and driving over it with a bomag...lol I've worked with my uncle at his construction company, they don't do roads anymore because tenders are given to startup comanies in teh Northern Cape.

But anyway, the main culpret here is the compacting of the tar...before and after its laid! Also preparation of the surface! Loads of companies skip these steps for time and cost reasons lol...

Simple e.g. If a 50cm hole is closed today...I've seen municipality just throw a slab of tar in there...compact it a little and then drive off lol...its not that simple!

Have you guys realised the roughness of some surfaces? Or smoothness...some surfaces are rough with those "klippies" still evident on the road, sometimes the road is done and you'll drive behind a car and that car will lift up the small stones still loose on the surface!!! This is when the road is complete but not actually lol...these guys dont know what they doing, same like Eskom...it has nothing to do with the ANC or Apartheid or BEE or whites or who knows best...its just a case of people wanting to spend the least of that tender money so that they can keep the left overs to themselves...so leftovers are Greater than the raod budget initially tendered for...varke!

When last did any of you dudes see a big yellow gravel road grader dressing and repairing the gravel that borders and supports the edge of the tarred roads??
