Just heard on the radio that they gave 140 tickets to motorist who cross solid lines!! Mainly on offramps, so just watch out, myself included.

Great News! Tired of people pushing in over white lines on both on and off ramps.

Pushing in over white lines is silly. 1m before on the other hand...

Nothing irritates me more than people who are too f***ing lazy to wait in a queue like everyone else.

So I applaud them for this :)

i see taxi's do it every day and even overtake you on the left, they should impound all these taxis.

75% of the work force of SA uses public transport. They can't impound all taxis...

Public Transport: "Transport supplied by the state agencies".

While it may seem like public transport, the government doesn't own the taxi associations; those are private companies. If the government wanted to do something about the taxi problem, they'd fine the companies themselves.

I've seen those new taxi's on the road, the ones with the vinyls on the side, I think those are government taxi's aren't they? - In either event, they drive as badly as normal taxi drivers :/

Government won't curb the taxi problem because tax-revenue from the taxi associations is staggering. Hundreds of millions, if not billions, of Rands.

I purposefully attempt to cut taxi's off when I can, yet you still get the moron's then let them go about it. /sigh

As a mate of mine says; it seems like the government (namely the metro) are afraid of the taxi drivers/association hence why they never do anything :(

agreed.

Please, please oh pretty please let this guy/his mates lurk on the northbound lane of William Nicol at the Grosvenor Crossing intersection (that monster X in the road), they'd score HUGE there with all the verkakte cretins that shove their way in over the solid line! And the best part is they can enforce their highway robbery exactly the way they're used to: by parking in one spot and nailing people, only this would actually be helpful.

guys don't be stupid.
those guys have nothing to loose. i mean if you are going to cut off taxi's when you are on your way home to your family or wherever those guys can kill you. remember that the taxi industry is like a mafia world.

those guys have targets to meet. if you have even be in a situation where you ride taxis then you will know. just let the man in and forget about the rest. i think it's stupid for people to try and stop someone from cutting you in front of them. A lot of white males do that because they have never been in that situation(using taxis to work and having to wait hours for one to arrive at a taxi rank full of people).

I'm not saying it's right for the taxi drivers to do so, but please people stop condoning road rage... those guys are not educated and most of them have nothing to loose, they are used to hostile situations... they shoot each other every day what will they do to you?

you cut him off, the next guys lets him in, so what was the fuss about? was your attempted worth it? NO:rolleyes:

whatever happened to that taxi thing where they had to give in the old taxi for a new one it seems its been washed under the carpet now.

It is still happening, so so... those guys are a law unto themselves... the thing again with the scrapping of the taxis and the new taxis coming in, are nto good for the industry. An average taxi brand new costs R250k, Toyota Quantum, and they are 14 seaters, so the guys don't make that much money anymore. Govenment is messing with the livelyhood of the taxi owners and they know it. The one good thing about the taxi recap is that they can now be taxed... there goes me buying a taxi:)

Under hand dealings, I dont see many on the roads as before....

Its reasons like this that they still do what they do... because they know they're going to get away with it.

And what about those taxi drivers that purposefully block traffic so that they can turn, drive down the wrong side of the road in the face of oncoming traffic because there is a backup of traffic, drive on the payment, turn right or drive straight from a turn-left-only lane? Drive on Jan Smuts avenue any day of the week to see this in action. Do we just let them do it because they are 'uneducated' and have 'nothing to lose' as you put it? What about them putting our lives in danger? And why is there never one metro cop to be seen?

now on the way home there is a taxi standing in the middle of the road picking up and dropping off people and he is not even near the kerb he is actually in the middle lane of a 3 lane road. then at the robots this other taxi comes pass me on the left and moves infront of me almost in the path of oncoming traffic from the right (fourway intersection), this guy is about a car and a half ove the white line. the 3rd taxi rides down the right hand side of the road (oncoming traffic lane) to get to the front of the line.

a law unto themselves.
