Beware WeChat Wallet payments

Do you have any data to prove that it is? Except a call centre employee at Incredible Connection...
Why do you assume it is a call centre employee, and not official comment from Incredible Connection.

Hint: You are wrong ;)

Even if it was the ceo of incredible connection, it doesn't detract from his arguement.

Can we just agree that the article is poo and move on please?

@rpm, how did you get through to WeChat in the first place? They don't respond to e-mails, there is no contact number. I had to message them on Facebook for a response.

In my case, it was because of the discounts not being applied after paying with snapscan.

Do you have information to suggest that this is not a regular problem?
I've been using WECHAT wallet for two months now almost every day without a single problem. Seems like this might be merchant-specific rather than a general wechat problem? There have been very few wechat wallet issues raised on this forum since it's launch.

I have to agree with MyBroadband, when a transaction goes wrong like this and the onus is put on the buyer it a nothing other than a spectacular FAIL, and tragic customer service I may add.

I'm not saying that the customer service are spectacular. I've shopped at store X, swiped my card and the transaction didn't go through. Swiped again. Bank reflects money went out on the online statement. I now paid twice the original value. Money available according to bank also less. I wait three days, money seems to reflect back into my account.
Shall I now also write a myBB article?

I'm not saying there's nothing wrong with the Wechat wallet. It's bad journalism to go and state something without further investigation or further tests.

In your case the bank detected it's a duplicate amount deducted and reversed it. Here MyBB didn't buy the tablet again for x reason. Now they have to get in contact with the bank to reverse the transaction which leads to wasted time, added stress, added due diligence etc. So calm your tits please.

Thanks for relating your experience. We're getting a mixed bag of feedback - all of which is valuable. Some folks in the comments are saying they had the same thing happen and got the charges reversed, others are saying they had the same thing happen and struggled.

It's part of the reason I would argue that articles like this are essential.

I do understand your pov, but allow me to quote Jan,

This article by MyBroadband contributes to a resolution. I’m quite sure that the responses to this article are valuable to both Incredible Connection and WeChat. Buyers are unique, and nobody reacts the same to ‘mistakes’ in the system, besides not everybody has the security to temporary cover these risks. How I see this, this article will assist Incredible Connection and WeChat in resolving these errors more timeously (improved turnaround time) and to possible prevent these issues from occurring.

All that MyBroadband did was to contribute in improving everybody's shopping experience by being vigilant and vocal about it.

the guys complaining about the article are such **** its exactly why we get ripped off so much in SA because when ever someone points it out or takes a stand the usual couch potatoes are out in full force saying it should have been obvious that this is the way it works or that's just how it is etc

i for one appreciate the article and definitely would think twice about using their wallet system now especially since i've been really tempted to use them for their Wednesday specials.

thanks for the article

WeChat explains

WeChat said its Stuff Magazine promotion coincided with #GreenFriday and it experienced a large amount of customer complaints regarding payment failures.

“We identified all these customers and made additional stock available for each of them and gave them additional time to make their purchase,” said WeChat.

WeChat encouraged customers to raise their concerns with the company about any issue they encounter.

“We will try our best to make payments on WeChat a more convenient and safer way to pay.”

WeChat Wallet clients who experience problems can call the call centre at 0860 748 886 or email [email protected].

It said it was not possible to do much other than log a complaint, because there was no transaction code.
1.) Upon logging a fault did they offer the choice between a refund and the supposedly purchased item?
2.) What personal info do wechat require upon logging a call seeing as there's no transaction code / how do they authenticate the caller?

Bought this exact iPad Air 2 through WeChat on Tuesday, and it was delivered on Saturday by FedEx.

No complaints here, except that IC should step up the shipping process. If they have the items in stock, it shouldn't take that long to ship it 10 kilometers.

I've been using it regularly to pay at a Snapscan merchant the past two months and it has been fine except one time when it switched from my credit card to the wallet balance without me selecting it. For a while I believed I lost money! An email and a FB message went unanswered.

But there is certainly a problem with their payment platform, just witness the regular problems in the hardware bargains/black friday thread. They seem to have a problem with exception handling.

Most likely next day delivery to keep the costs down, meaning that the courier will collect the next day to book the parcel into their depot. Then pending on the delivery load in the queue will prioritise when your parcel will be delivered. Same day or urgent deliveries are normally twice the cost and are coupled to a service level.

If you SnapScan incredible connection via WeChat for the iPad, do you qualify for the cash back promotion?

It's disturbing that WeChat didn't include any transaction codes or the like... it's not like what they're doing is revolutionary... Begs the question of what else they've 'forgotten' to do...

Any idea how to use the Wechat balance to pay at Snapscan merchants?
I haven't been able to figure it out or find instructions online.
