Beware when ordering from RARU...

Loot may be worse than Takealot but they are still leagues above Raru. I placed an order of 2 items recently from Loot, one item was sent incorrectly by their supplier, they swopped it out for the correct item no problem.

It did take a while to sort out but their comms were good and there was no question in my mind they were going to sort me out, unlike Raru that categorically do not give 2 fks about their customers.
IMHO Loot was arguably as bad as Raru has become, it's only my subjective isolated experiences that formed my opinions about both and I don't have any recent purchase experiences with either (because of past bad experiences).

It's a given that companies will go through stages of good and bad service, and I had isolated incidents of bad service and support from Takealot as well, but I do feel that Takealot generally tries to improve.

Until the average sentiment towards Raru and Loot improves, I will not buy from either of them. I do however visit both sites for price comparisons with Takealot.

Supply chain issues is one thing and I’ve experienced that with Loot, Everyshop and Takealot, due to their tardy 3rd party sellers and maybe Loot is worse than average but I’ve seen no reports of Loot refusing refunds when they are due.

That’s really the gist of this Raru madness, them wilfully withholding refunds for weeks or months at a time.
 
I dont get it. I have ordered from Raru many many times, never an issue. There was once a small hiccup where one item out of a bundle was taking too long. They contacted me and I had refund for that item the next day.

Ordered in April with them saying it'll ship in June 1st, that has come and gone with them then saying on the second that due to flight restrictions and yada yada it wasn't in this shipment and they can't tell me if it will be in the next one or the next.

To be fair, I have experienced that with other companies as well with imports. It's not just Raru. My last parcel ordered from Hannants in the UK took 4 months to get here due to flight restrictions and delays.

There has to be that one guy who is always defending something regardless of overwhelming evidence.

When did use raru and loot I haven't had issues. Pretty much the same for pclink computers. However, this was back then...

A logical, intelligent person would actually make a relevant attempt at explaining their point of view.

It's called common sense, if you have smoke, there is usually a fire.
If a bunch of people post saying, "hey I had a bad experience at X", it means the amount of people that experienced it is likely x10.
All these threads about scam stores and then guys like yourself defending those stores so they can keep their enterprises going.
Next week when someone comes here and post yet another, I got ripped off, you are going to come here and defend them again I assume?

If you are not aware, long ago we had THESHOPPINGMATRIX. They were really successful but then got bought out and went under.

Then comes Takealot (basically the same devs, etc) and its become a roaring success.

However the team that built Takealot dev wise left and went to create RARU.

They were brilliant at first, but not sure if RARU got sold to someone else who has now fumbled it. But they had real potential.

The dev team however is brilliant wherever they are now. I got to know them when they sold DVDs out of their car boot. They had a huge clientele and following all the way.

The only real scammer in Cape Town I ever dealt with or had dealings with was the VEFA International.

RARU I ordered lots from and never had hassles. Same with Amazon. It could be delayed for months, but my packages always came. Never lost one package.

Same for me with the Post Office and ordering from China. Never lost a package . Delayed for months. 6-8 months even. But eventually came, even after the refund.

I guess it all depends on how low your standards are.

I can with confidence NOT recommend the Post Office.
 
I order board games all the time from Raru, no other place in SA can get them for Raru prices or at all.

These are pricey purchases, if you order something that says 30 days it's more like 3 months and anything longer can take some serious time to arrive.

But they arrive and except for once arrive in good nick. Honestly its either waiting a long time or never getting it.

They also keep you up to date with delays and once I had to cancel my order they refunded me.

Not the greatest service but when it's the only service what choice do you have.
