BFBC 2 MP Vs. COD Black Ops MP

Still steam...
I might change my mind in the future (read far distant future) but I am still against it.
Will maar sit at home and play my other games with myself.
Or play some oldschool counterstrike with the ladyfriend on lan.

To tell you the truth I would be fine with steam and activation and all of that as long as I can still play lan multiplayer with my friends offline.

That is really all I want.

IMO... ADSL + online multi + Team Speak has already replaced LAN's... and it's not due to steam.

...apple brought quality into the mobile app market.

It just became popular for people that cannot make friends.
Which i do not appose.
But why take away lan play?

and they also limit/change you to fit in their box.
Selling you overpriced crap.
That can do nothing else than what they decide it should do.

It's become popular because you can do it from your house without having to lug around a heavy PC... while having the same experience... with your friends... who can even be in different parts of the country/world.

That box is called quality
even the free apps are good
like?

well not ture I have lots of "real world" friends who hookup online and game with team speak we just
don't all need to be in the same place, if we wanna LAN old school we just get alt copies of whatever
we playing and LAN :}

Bottom line: don't avoid steam because it's killing LAN, that's simply not true, you're missing out on some sweet deals.

Steam is not to blame for no LAN play. That's the game companies trying to put an end to piracy and push everything online. I wish there were LAN options in certain games so they could be played at LAN events.

Steam is just a distribution platform with matchmaking ability. If anything, Steam has been beneficial to the continuation of PC game sales.

LoL Yeah what he said :} ... we will always find a way to LAN if thats what we want to do, but that doesnt
mean we have to shoot ourself in the foot and miss out on some gr8 opportunities

Hmmmm this thread kinda went off rail somewhere, its a BFBC2 vs COD BO pieces lets get back to that!

lol I know... Neither of which have LAN play anyway.

I do understand your opinions.
But I have one thing to say.

The hate runs strong in this one. :P

Well actually my original derailment shouts volumes for which is the winner:
BC2

I cannot find a single copy in the shops. While BO I saw everywhere, even in CNA.

So in this corner: Winner by sheer popularity and awesomeness
Battlefield Bad Company 2!

MY BC2 needs only about 2gb more to be downloaded, so before the thread gets back on track, would anyone mind pointing me to which servers you game on, or perhaps even a little guide that I can read through to understand the gameplay a bit more so that I'm not a total noob once I start?

well in BC2 cover is your best friend, just be sure to stay away from walls or too close to the edges after you go into cover since a 40mm grenade will be coming your way. also the maps are kind of divided in sections like there are some sniper safe zones where you don't have to worry about snipers.capers are also very uncommon because as you move up your team covers most of your side to make sure no one sneaks up from behind.sniping is usually the best class to start of with but you won't have many kills and you will most likely be useless to your team so if you get bored of sniping then it's assault time.

Well, if you hurry, Steam still has it on special for $7.50, but only till 7pm tonight, so you better hurry ;)
Ok now I am regretting not being behind my pc last night.
Just checked now (for reference) and its $29.

Just a question.
How does steam work?
You buy the game (I would assume credit card) and download it.

What happens if you upgrade your pc?
Or just format it?

love bc2 but blops can be fun as well, love me some nuke town.... but few things can compare to the variety and depth that battlefield offers.... not to mention circle strafing till peeps rage.... never gets old, hope they dont nerf choppers in bf3

I can't even get myself logged in right now. Whenever I enter the wrong EA account details, it's fast to tell me they're wrong. If I enter the correct details, it takes forever, and then brings up a screen that says 'unable to log in, please try again'. I really hope I haven't bought a game that I'm unable to play, otherwise I'm going to demand a refund from steam. I've googled the problem, and it seems there are loads of people with the same problem, but no solutions.

There seems to be an even bigger problem here. I logged into my account on the EA support site, and there's an open question and an entire chat log for support on BC2. It was submitted yesterday. Today was the first time in my life that I've logged into EA support.

Seriously whats the point of the title????

Comparing 2 FPS with 2 totally play styles is a bit ridiculous

This isn't to shoot down any of the games. Just a mere comparison between the two. To me, BFBC 2 has always been my favorite. Playing COD was very different, in some ways good but in most ways bad, at least for me. I know you get 2 different types of people. COD people and BF people. I wanted to get each of their opinions about the game. You don't need to reply here but if you do make it a little constructive please. I do know that they are different playing styles but I want to know why from your POV.

Are you on PC? If so I had the same problem and it seemed that my anti- virus had changed its mind about allowing the game to connect over night. So I had to manually set the game up in the firewall again. Bitdefender btw.
