Bicycle advice

@rh1 I might have bike for you.
KHS 3000 with sram x7/x9 combination, carbon seat post with proper seat for girls.

Bike is scratched from falls, seat has a tear but mechanically it is in great condition and very light.
I can PM you photos tomorrow if you are interested.

Looks like this one but small

Have a look at the Silverback Skid range. I bought my 9 year old son one and its a great bike with disc brakes.

So my daughter has outgrown her cheap makro bmx, so we not riding at the moment, I have been wanting to buy her a decent bigger bike.

She recently had a growth spurt and is about 150cm. I think I can for size small mtb. Budget is about R4k, maybe R5k.

I am looking at 2nd hand as I learnt my lesson with the cheapo bike. So want something quality vs price.

I see this second hand bike for R3950,00

Is this too big?
What does she want to do with the bike? Race BMX? Ride MTB trails? Shred downhill? Enduro? Win the TDF Femmes Avec Zwift? Ride to school? Ride around the block? Ride to the corner cafe for chappies?
Get the correct tool for the job.

Bikehub is a good place to buy, I have sold and bought bikes on there.

That Trek in the OP is an awesome deal! SLX drivetrain, hydraulic disc brakes, looks like Rockshox Recon air shock, tapered steerer. If she can fit on that bike you have one helleva a ride.

Thanks, will take my daughter to a bike shop and find out what frame size suits her.

Nothing beats a budget bike that does it all.

My daily is a Silverback Sola hardtail that I put together for around R12k three years ago and whenever I am at our place on the West Coast, I ride a 20 year old Kona Hoss Dee-Lux hardtail.

Yeah. Bike shops simply love it when morons come in for advice and then buy elsewhere.

There's plenty of free online bike fit calculators.

Don't be that guy

You are..? What are you giving away..?
BMC TE03 full XT 29"
Beat up Giant reign 26"
I have the Reign to a kid in our estate yesterday. The other is going to one of my warehouse employees.

So her height is +/- 158cm ( so she has grown quite a bit since earlier this year), arm length (50cm) and leg inseam length roughly 75cm.

Thus, the original bike linked in my first post may work.

It's touch and go.. really going to be best to go to a store so she can sit on a few different ones.. nothing worse than being on a mountain bike where you are not comfortable.. that's all you would be focusing on..

I would definitely go for it. Remember it is just a guideline and if you really get into it you can always tweak things like buy a short or longer stem, or a flat or raised handlebar. There is so much you can also adjust on the bike as it is without swapping any parts.
