.... then it should be called a subscription not a contract

Yup same with CellC... reception is dodgy at best but they don't pull stunts like the MTN-VOD monopoly. These firms makes R20Billion profit a year and we still follow them like sheep. It's our own stupidity to sign contracts. I, for one, will do everything on pre-paid or month-2-month from now on. Tired of being taken for a ride.Im so glad Telkom has never pulled this stunt on me over the 8 years i have had contracts with them
Got bad news buddy, better check your bill next month... that's if they can still email it securely.Does this apply to phone contracts too? Got a S22 ultra at R899 per month for 36 months in April, will this suddenly increase a lot?
Yes definitely. At R899 + the base price, you're probably at a 35%+ increase this year, and over 3 years, you're looking at another 2 to 3 increases. That R899 /pm contract suddenly becomes R1200/pm if not more.Does this apply to phone contracts too? Got a S22 ultra at R899 per month for 36 months in April, will this suddenly increase a lot?
Can't wait to rid myself of MTN.
Fraud is also a big problem. All of a sudden you see another contract taken out in your name and only hear about it when the statement comes. There have been a few threads on here and it nearly happened to me.
I also don't think I've ever had Telkom do this in the almost 10 years I was with them. Don't think I'm wrong.Im so glad Telkom has never pulled this stunt on me over the 8 years i have had contracts with them

Vodacom does this too., albeit not as big a hike. Not the first time either, that these two done this.Is there a price lock clause in the contract?
The law is very clear on explicit and understandable communication in regard to contracts. MTN won't care unless there is mass protest, there needs to be an aggrieved party. Knowing that it could be a costly exercise, the best the customer can do is to change service.
Though I am aware about this, I haven’t looked at my own bill in detail, but this could urge me to move to Vodacom. An over 20% increase is irrational, and so is the board when they voted on that decision.
And new billion Rand spectrum.I think we are now paying for all the stolen batteries and cable theft.
