I received an e-mail that has circulated around many people telling me that is a virus coming from tomorrow. Here is a copy of the e-mail below. Anybody have information if this is true and if so let's spread the word out.

"http://www.snopes.com/computer/virus/postcard.asp - Snopes lists all the names it could come in.

Hi All, I checked with Norton Anti-Virus, and they are gearing up for this virus!

I checked Snopes (URL above:), and it is for real!!

Get this E-mail message sent around to your contacts ASAP.

PLEASE FORWARD THIS WARNING AMONG FRIENDS, FAMILY AND CONTACTS!

You should be alert during the next few days. Do not open any message with an attachment entitled 'POSTCARD FROM HALLMARK,' regardless of who sent it to you.

It is a virus which opens A POSTCARD IMAGE - it 'burns' the entire hard disc C.

This virus will be received from someone who has your e-mail address in their contact list.

This is the reason why you must send this e-mail to all your contacts. It is better to receive this message multiple times than to receive the virus and open it.

If you receive mail called' POSTCARD,' even though sent to you by a friend, do not open it! Shut down your computer immediately.

This is the worst virus announced by CNN. It has been classified by Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever.

McAfee discovered this virus yesterday, and there is no repair yet for this kind of virus.

This virus destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disc, where the vital information is kept..

COPY THIS E-MAIL TO YOUR FRIENDS.

REMEMBER: IF YOU SEND IT ON, YOU WILL BENEFIT ALL OF US"

You know, I am not going to even check if its fake or not because when they say that, it is.

And as I was writing this, I could not resist and did check and snopes said that although there is a valid postcard virus, its not as bad, not announced on CNN and you should not pass this email on.

/me gets ready to mail TIAL a whole bag full of "home-made" viruses, trojans, and worms
(the worms are real worms, btw....)

Trust me - you won't know about the biggest worm until it is too late and half the internet is down... then you will know about it.

luckilly that thing should be a bigger attachment, and then 90% of south africans decide NOT to download it.

we will be the powerhouse of the world, once again.

Spare some for myself? Want to run some tests here as well :D

Your virus scans won't help with my home made viruses (seriously, not joking)

..and my viruses are funny...

- One opens and closes CD-ROM repeatedly, while changing resolutions repeatedly, etc/etc
- One replaces all mp3's with my soundclip of choice, same with jpgs, and avi files.

trust me, u don't want one of mine... i wouldn't even attempt to try it in a virtual enviroment!

Does it work on Leopard?

From said snopes page
Although the Postcard virus is real, it isn't a "BIG VIRUS COMING" (it's already been around in multiple forms for a long time now), it will not "burn the whole hard disc" of your computer, CNN didn't classify it as the "worst virus" ever, and it doesn't arrive in messages bearing a subject line of 'Invitation.'
