Biggest ADSL bandwidth hogs in SA

I do not believe the Openweb results no no no no ways nooooo!

I thought all ISP's implemented FUP's to prevent this type of thing from happening. If the customer has an uncapped account the amount of data shouldn't matter as long as they stay within the ISP's rules of impacting negatively on the network.

How exactly does one consume 8TB+ of media per month?

4K content and watching around the clock?

Are none of the accounts used by businesses who may have many employees?

Download clubs and/or WISPs using standard accounts for their internet breakout. That's what reseller and bulk agreements are for. Not standard consumer or business accounts...

love how OW are able to get almost 25% more than competitors on their 10mbps (shaped) home uncapped... 1.9TB out of a maximum (unshaped) potential 2.5TB for a month... pull the other one Keoma3-ZN, it's got bells on it.

Boohoo. Hogs.

These are the top 5 users on the ISPs, there are many many many more users on the bottom end of the usage scale that still allow the companies to make a profit.

It's with this backwards thinking that people that use more than the average is a hog that South Africa will always be stuck in the internet dark ages.

Ah that makes sense.

Well, we are a family of five active users, and we can easily kill 1 Tb a month just on steam updates, gaming and video streaming.
That's without even trying. If we were to push it, it would probably double that.

I wouldn't mind if most ISP's implemented throttling to prevent data hogs like these, but then the thresholds should be reasonable. For example, 10Mbps should have a threshold no less than 600GB. That would nail all the crazy data hogs like in this article, but leave regular customers alone. My household uses 350-550GB a month with P2P downloading comprising a very small portion of that usage. It's a pain in the ass when I'm enquiring about uncapped accounts and discover that they introduce harsh shaping or throttling within that usage level.

They already have AUP/FUP in place. Don't be stupid.
