Hi Just thougth I'd get something like this going:

Personally I think players such as:

Arjen Robben - Transfer to Chelsea and Real Madrid
Ronaldo - from Real Madrid AC Milan
Shaun Wright Phillips - Transfer to Chelsea

Lets see what we can come up with

Well... I can't say much for Robben, but if he has spent as much time injured as he did in Chelsea then I'm not surprised he's a flop. It would be like a Spanish team buying Van Persie. As for SWP - he's not doing too badly. I haven't seen the last couple of games, but in the ones I did see, he performed admirably.

How is ronaldo a flop at real madrid?
He scored almost 200 goals with them and won numerous silverware.

sorry Ronaldo one should have been:

Ronaldo - from Real Madrid back to AC Milan (after the fat spell)

Shevchenko..but i think he was on the decline already by the time he got to Chelsea.

On sky sport a few months ago. They were comparing more recent tranfer flops. Weather or not the guys were worth their pounds.

On the top of the list was:

Berbatov - flop
Keane - flop
Robinho - top performer
Deco - top performer - altho now, i would consider him a flop

Just shows how fickle the Sky sports "Journalist" can be. They were probably calling C.Ronaldo a flop after his first season at United. Im sure Anelka was labelled a flop aswell last season, now hes the leagues top scorer and keeping drogba on the bench.
The likes of Berbatov and Keane have at least shown glimpses of what they can do when on form. I dont believe in the flop label though because this seasons flop can go on to be next seasons revelation.

True.

Altho i find sky journos to be the best in the business. They are dedicated to football. They were merely analysing if the big tranfers were worth the money SO FAR!

I think they were right by calling Berbatov and Keane a flop. If they are to perform next season, im sure they would change their views.

They do have it spot on now tho.

I would like to know how they judge these players though? Is it just based on goals scored?
We are sitting top of the league after the arrival of our flop Keane, while Manchester City are in the relegation zone even though they have the brilliant Robinho scoring goals for fun:)

Apparently Quaresma is also a big flop, I remember reading an article about the little effect he has had at Inter since his big money move from Porto

Value for money they have both been pretty bad. They were purchased to score goals, which both have been unable to produce.

City have got what they paid for with Robinho and if they were able to make other puchases pay off like that in the next transfer window, they will be climbing up the table.

Simple. They looked at their performances. Keane and Berbatov's performaces have been pretty lame compared to the money that was spent to bring them to the club.

I remember the Sky anchor saying, Robinho has already started to pay the club back by scoring goals.

@ Ferna9do - is Keane the reason why Pool is on top of the log?

Still dont think they are flops?

Ok so both demanded insanely inflated transfer fees, but people did expect them to at least justify the fees that were payed for them(not their fault however)

But as the season progressed both are really really struggling. Robbie Keane was left on the bench as Benitez chose Luca Leiva to attempt to get a winning goal against Hull.

Berbatov yet again failed to score in the League for Man Utd.

Now lets take a look at some figures

Cost:

Keane: 20 million
Berbatov: 32 million

Clubs:

Keane: Liverpool
Berbatov: Man United

Respective clubs finishing position last season:

Keane: 4th
Berbatov: 1st

Respective clubs current position:

Keane: 1st
Berbatov: 3rd

Matches played this season:

Keane:
PL: 13
CL: 3
Berbatov:
PL: 12
CL: 2

Goals scored this season:
Keane:
PL: 2
CL: 2

Berbatov:
PL: 2
CL: 4

Assists this season:

Keane:
PL: 4
CL: 0

Berbatov:
PL: 5
CL: 0

Fans opinion before being signed:

Keane: What are we signing him for? How much?

Berbatov: He is exactly the player we need. Spend whatever is takes.

Fans opinion since being signed:
Keane: Should have bought someone like Klass Jan Huntelaar

Berbatov: Should have bought someone like Klass Jan Huntelaar

So it seems Berbatov in terms of statistics alone has been slightly more productive, however he did cost a good 10 million more.

Keane will work harder for the team and Berba is more of a magician.

so who do you feel has flopped the most?

Well if Keane didnt score that brilliant goal against Arsenal we wouldnt be top now.
I dont think Keane has been a flop, i think that we have not played much good footy this season and Keane has rarely gotten a chance to play in the position that Rafa baught him for(i.e just behind Torres). Keane has been somewhat disapointing but wouldnt go as far as saying hes a flop. Hes got 5 goals and if he can chip in with another 10 before May then I would say its been a good signing. Hes not an out and out striker.

I would like to hear what the manu fans think about their moody bulgarian though.

Stop making excuses for Keane. He has been a flop. Are you implying that his goal against Arsenal is making him worth all that money?

If a club were to spend big in the transfer window, the player would need to perform and thats the bottom line.

Keane hasn't been a flop !

...Let's judge him in May :D

That goal was far from brilliant.. RVP's goal was class.. the goal keane scored you'd expect any striker to score and it would've been a horrific miss had it not gone in

it was just brilliant because it was keane and he didnt miss :)

how can you say keane n berbatov have been flops when they have only been at their clubs for 3 months judge them on their first season not first 3 months ,and fyi Keane is a notoriously bad starter in all his season most of his goals have come after the christmas ;) im not saying that he will score 30 goals this season but if he reaches 15-20 goals he would not be classified as a flop

and i agree with fernando that keane has been playing out of postition as a lone striker which he is not ,when El nino is fit you will see the best of keane when they play together
