Biker visibility

I guess some common sense should be exercised by everyone. I just don't always see common sense being used (drivers and bikers). It is quite a mission to always stay calm

Sure. But for me it is creating additional opportunities for accidents. Lanes are designed for one vehicle at a time. Otherwise why separate them? Why have any road markings at all and let 3 cars drive abreast if they can squeeze by on a road which previously had two lanes. That's what we're actually justifying if we're consistent with lane splitting. Because it implies that at every time a lane should make provision for a bike and a car (for reasons of safety especially).

Obviously only narcissist, arrogant a-holes could have any objection to lane splitting. Since the popular perception is that more expensive cars are driven by narcissistic arrogant a-holes all complaints must originate with them and be the result of their butthurt.

And the name calling starts, since that is the only way to try and dominate or "win an argument". Maybe people that drive expensive cars are successful and work hard? My objection to lane splitting is not based on narcissism or arrogance, but if that is how you feel, so be it.

Actually the BMW and Merc drivers are the ones that give way more often than not. It's the drivers in their Fortuners and the like that don't.
Are you telling us that BMW and Merc drivers actually have MANNERS?? I drive a Fortuner from time to time and when I see a biker in my big mirror I make space :p

Sarcasm. Dude I was being sarcastic. Usually when I start with "obviously" that's implied. It seems many people think we object to this because we're envious of bikers. Well, I'm not. That they have a few advantages, does not worry me. I'm not in a race against any particular road user. Just want to get safely to my destination and without unreasonable hassle. :)

Aye. The douchenozzles of the road these days drive SUV's. Sorry. You'd also be surprised to know taxi drivers are actually the first to give space to a guy lane splitting - at least this is my experience.

Actually it is very relevant...it is a conspiracy...they want us all to drive Land Rovers

Land Rovers wouldn't be a problem for Bikers, since they're usually parked next to the road. Though those parked in the emergency lane could bother some bikers.

The only part of this post that is surprisingly true, is the taxi part. They generally do seem to give way to bikers.

If it isn't leaking oil, it's out of oil. :D

And this is applicable how? Oh sorry I forgot, all BMW and Audi drivers are kunts by default.

Sorry to dissapoint you, but I drive neither.

By german I meant german. vw, audi and opel included. Get on a bike and you will see how true your statement is. I digress though. What I wanted to say was, it's all a matter of perspective

Traffic regulations are incredibly stupid in SA. Lane splitting should not be allowed, at most in stationary traffic. A bike should occupy a similar slot to that of a car. It's simply impossible to see these guys coming from the back, never mind the speed they go. It's also difficult sometimes to keep your car from drifting a few centimeters. You're gonna hit a biker then. Just because something is legal, like carrying people at the back on a bakkie (which would get you pulled over immediately in the EU), does not mean it's sensible or safe.

Daylight driving with headlines on for cars is on the other hand a stupid EU regulation which will hopefully not see daylight in SA.

What is retarded in SA however is the number of vehicles where the lights are not aligned properly or dipped. Add these white high power ?LED lamps and you have idiots blinding you from the back, or on frontal approach.

No.

It's more dangerous for bikes NOT to lane split.

In fact it makes them even less visible.

There is a reason America is slowly but surely changing their state laws to allow more and more lane splitting.

It's also difficult sometimes to keep your car from drifting a few centimeters.

Strange, I never have this problem. Not on a bike, not in a car not in anything.

Don't blame your inability to drive properly on others.

Besides a few centimeters aren't a problem. It's the people who drive with their Tyres on the white line and are oblivious to the world that are the real issue.

Or people changing lanes without indicating for NO GOOD REASON. I see this every day, people going from a stationary lane to a stationary lane. What is the point?
