Bill To Protect Personal Data

Something doesn't sound quite right here.
Where can we see the actual bill?

thanks rpm

a lot of work to be done on this - is very important that we start getting a culture which appreciates the value of personal information and a system which protects against its exploitation

fits into a raft of consumer protectio legislation govt is trying to finalise at the mo

This bill is a good thing. I for one am heartily tired of my information getting passed around from one advertiser to the next.

Also, this protects you from incorrect information about you being made public (such as on a credit bureau).

Well this is a welcome change to that *** Crypto bill...

This is very welcome indeed, because like Moederloos I too am sick and tired of my information being passed from one company to another, but as they admit ...
... the trick will be in the monitoring and whether the commission will have the capacity to deal with breaches.

culture of data protection

The key also is, in my opinion, in building a culture of data protection. A culture where citizens know their rights (as laid down in the new Act) and businesses respecting those rights. The new Act is giving effect to a constitutional right to information privacy, now we as citizens must learn to demand that our constitutional rights be respected.
I am pleased to see that myadsl is frequently updating the public on the status of the bill. Good job, rpm!

P.S. Just saw that I share dominic's view :)
