Please help. I am using the 8520 blackberry and am active on BIS. The problem is I am being billed for interent usage!!! Should this not be free, is there a setting on the phone that must be changed? Thanks VMC

Check that the TCP settings on the device are not enabled.
Options > Advanced Options> TCP/IP
Ensure that enabled is not selected..
Can you please also PM your details..

I had a customer like this the other day. BIS was loaded but after surfing his airtime was deducted.

I had to log a fault for it to get sorted. Still dont know what the problem was.

DON'T hold your breath for reimbursement I am still waiting for 4 months now.

Make sure that your Default Browser Configuration is set to Internet Browser and not Vodafone Live. You can set an APN: blackberry.net . You will not be charged for that.

With all due respect, I have _enabled_ my TCP settings as follows:

Options > Advanced Options> TCP/IP
Ensure that enabled is selected with a tick.

Then in APN I enter: blackberry.net

The username and password fields are left unticked/blank

This then ensures that the _only_ method of getting Internet Access is via BIS.

If the application is not supported by BIS it will be given the middle finger, thus preventing you from giving your hardearned R2.00 per mb to your Service Provider.

I do not lose any Rand value or Airtime using this method on either my VC and MTN BlackBerries.
