Billing Questions

Well if they do not give you the free bandwidth they are falsely advertising.

Man, you need to get your facts straight. They CLEARLY state that only 24month contract customers get the extra "free" bandwidth. Thus, it is not false advertising. ;)

iBurst has responded to MTN and Sentech’s latest price reductions with a ‘Data Bonus’ to all users. The company claims that they will now be the most cost effective in the market, but this claim seems very dubious.

It clearly states to all users...

There is one month 2 month guy that received it

No there isn't, he found out he was still on their system as being on contract, only reason he received the extra 512mb.

That quote isn't from iBurst it's from the MyADSL article, they simply got that part wrong. The actual words from iBurst are that it applies to contract subscribers.

I know of two people who have billing errors. I dont want to mention how, because then that would just spoil their fun :D But I do know people who have been cut off for non-payment.

GBM, No it does not make sense since most old customers(those that use their brains) on contracts or month to month will never enter or reenter a contract with this incompetent company, and to those that do do so at their own risk.

Well it does make sense on its own, you are trying to attract more (new) contract customers. But they shouldn't have excluded month to month users completely, especially the old ones that have been on iBurst for about as long as most contract customers anyway.

I guess theres just a small part of it that makes sense then.. :p

1. Has anybody been cut off due top non-payment, or is it correct that iBurst does not cut anybody off even if they do not pay?
2. Has anybody else experienced billing problems with iBurst?
3. Is it correct that their authentication and billing systems are not linked at all?

1. I was not cut off.
2. I had a problem when iBurst neglected to debit me for several months (not consecutively).
3. That would seem to be the case.

To fix the problem they debited my accouint with the arrears and current payment in one month. But only after contacting me and asking permission.

I think they had severe problem with their billing systems up to about June 2006. But since then they have been cleaning it up.

I gave notice at the end of December for my month-to-month service to be discontinued from February. Although I was expecting problems, this went smoothly.

I'm very glad I left iBurst when I did. If I had still been a subscriber and had not received the extra data after 2 years of loyal patronage I would have hit the roof.

That they offer a paltry 500Mb extra to G9 customers is an insult.

That they offer it to contract clients only adds injury to insult!

I agree and this time I am getting off my butt and fighting for what I believe in. This time I mean it when I say I am going to get ADSL.

I joined them on 9 February on a G1 account. So I figured they would bill me R938 (469 x 2) on the 25th. Well I was billed R1 265 on the 23d and R1 265 on the 1st of March again. I will give them a call tomorrow to find out what is going on but it is quite evident that their billing system is broken.

If you don't mind waiting until July, then you can order your ADSL.

Really? My ADSL order took 3 weeks, and Telkom even started bugging me about getting a modem and testing the service.

It has been 2 months and IBurst still has not managed to cancel my subscription...

evilspinach was still on their system as a contract subscriber for some reason.
evilspinach is still on their system as a contract subscriber for some reason. :( Seems I am getting mushroom treatment now, I preferred last weeks empty promises - at least I was left with some hope. Now I feel doomed to be a leashed subby with a TV series sponsoring dominatrix whipping my a$$... An a$$ with 500MB I do not want.
