I am having issues with my billion 400g where my network tends to slow down and only on a reboot will the net run full speed.

So I'm looking to flash it with the original none telkom firmware, does any one know what the billion equivalent to the 400g is.

Hi Redeemer30

Firstly there is no equivalent billion router for the 400g since it is made specifically for Telkom and if you try upgrading firmware using a firmware file for a different router the upgrade will fail since there will be a model conflict.

What is advisable is to do a firmware upgrade for the 400g, you can get the lastest firmware upgrade by going to the following link http://www.sizwebroadband.co.za/content/billion-400g-firewall-adsl2-router

When loading the firmware it will ask if you want to restart with factory default settings or current settings. It is advisable to restart with factory default settings and set up the router from scratch. Doing this will eliminate any problems you might have with settings.

If you require any other assistance you can call the Sizwe Broadband helpdesk on 0860110041.

This is my current firmware. I don't see a firmware label on the sizwe site. Can you confirm there is an update.
Software Version 5.53.s3.d3.rc5.069

Hi

Your firmware version is currently the most recent but I would advise doing the upgrade. If after teh upgrade you are still having the problem you should actually get the line tested because it could be loosing speed from the line exchange.

Thanks I've done all the line tests with telkom and i'm in a new area recently built. And they confirm that my line is running at 100%.

I have 2 accounts with 2 ISP's and this only seems to happen with one of them, have queried it and it's always rerouted back to a line fault.

Will do the upgrade and see what happens.
Thanks for the advice and help.

My Wi-Fi on this Billion 400G modem keeps disconnecting and not appearing for a few minutes even when I am in range of the router. Is there any way to solve this?

I got given one of these Billion 400G modems from people that had sold their house and moved to England.
Working OK so far, going to add a Tenda Access Point as a repeater tomorrow.

The Billion 400G was specially made for Telkom clients and I guess we are wasting our time looking for newer firmware which is what I normally do as standard practice. Mine is on the latest standard G.Dmt.BisPlus ADSL2+ anyway. Our exchange is only 10Mbps, but I suspect an upgrade one of these days.
My other router I was using is old ADSL 1 technology running at 8Mbps.

Did you find anything and how is your router performing?
If this one gives me any trouble going to buy the Asus from Makro.
