Okay so i got a billion 7300 router initially and it worked great for like a day then it blew, so i sent it in and got it replaced and the received the new one yesterday.

so i hooked it up and it connected fine but i experienced atrocious throughput with it, sites would fail to load, downloads would go between 0.0 and 5k, it was like being on 14k.

so i plugged in the marconi router i was using earlier and everything was fine, plug in the billion, again atrocious connectivity, i've tried it in bridged mode and pppoe mode with the exact settings that the marconi has. nothing.

So i took it to the idiots at the computer store i bought it from, they *supposedly* tested it and said nothing was wrong, so i said fine i'll try it again, so i did and now i struggle to get it to connect and when i do i cant access anything. it cant even auto-detect the line sometimes.

i've got the latest firmware on it and i dont understand whats going on, i cant imagine that its the line since i'm posting this now with my marconi, but the guys swear that the router is perfect...

the vci/vpi settings are the same, i've force it into annex a mode. Any idea what might be happening?

according to the marconi there is no loss of signal on the line.

I suggest returning the router and get your money back. I've got a Billion 7300M, but I have no problems with it, so I won't blame Billion.

Before you send it back however, click on this link:

You can use the Support form and send BillionSA a support request, they've helped me numerous times in the past free of charge.

Also, if you're online tomorrow, try to use the live help to chat with a support guy, they should be online tomorrow ;)

I have the 7300G and I just purchased a 7300 for my brother in law. No problems what so ever. Up and running all day. :D

I would suggest contacting Billion Support. They have a great support team. See what they say...

What kind of linestats does your router report i.e. downstream and upstream attenuation and noise margins? You should be able to find this in the Configuration -> WAN -> ADSL menu of the router. Maybe there is some type of telephone line problem.

Ola... ^^ doubt its a line problem as the marconi is working 100% with the inbetween testing...

sounds like a faulty router to me!

Hi Coldon

Can you please contact our support line directly on 012 675 1317

This seems to be an isolated problem.
