Bing versus Google

Microsoft's new Internet search engine Bing boosted the software giant's share of the US market in the week following its release, industry tracking firm comScore reported Tuesday.

Just added it to firefox. It's a hell of a lot faster than Google, which has been giving me some issues as of late, so hopefully it works well.

I tend to use Gargoyle more, but I have tried Bing and I like it. Now the tricky bit... how do you optimise your sites for it after years of trying to figure out those other tossers?

I'm not using it because its Microsoft. I'm not using it because its better. I'm just using it because it seems faster than Google search on ISDSL :p

bing I must admit is not terrible, but the similarities between the two is striking....have to wonder if bing isnt really just a reversed engineered "google engine'

But rather than a search engine or even a "decision engine", Bing also appears to be a spin engine, in that it provides partisan answers to controversial topics, such as Steve Ballmer's propensity to throw chairs to blow off stress. At a friend's suggestion, I typed the following phrases (without quotes) into both Google.com and Bing.com. The results are very telling. Be sure to look at the phrase completion options that you are offered as you type.
"linux "

"antitrust microsoft"

"ballmer throws chair"

"bill gates steals"

Been having troubles with google for quite some time now and none at all with Bing. I like it. I use Google's image search though and they have had user-tagging for some time - something Bing might be a bit behind on though - but the results are still adequate...

I see no gain from using Bing. Google is still snappier to me, and still brings up the best information I am looking for in search results.

I also dont trust their results not to be craftly designed for marketing reasons or censorship:

They dont have my trust and I dont trust them with my search data like I would Google.

You trust Google? To not be "craftly designed for marketing reasons or censorship"?
:D
Best I've heard all week!

Tried it for a few days...found it wasn't giving me what i wanted so I've reverted back to google. Kind like I tried chrome for a few days...it didn't allow me to block ads and flash from automatically eating my bandwidth so I reverted to Firefox.

Of course I trust Google.. more than any other large corporation out there. They are doing a good job (tin foil hats and conspiracies aside)

Im talking about search results where Microsoft change the search results for marketing reasons. Like search Linux, but they cripple the search in some way. Google of course have identified targeted ads on the side and in premium places.. but I trust them enough not to fop it off as the truth.

I certainly dont trust MS to have that level of integrity. How does MS do stuff? Embrace, Cripple, Destroy.
