Birthday present gadget for kid?

Hello to the gadget fundies; some help required here pleeze? I am trying to get my Grand daughter a birthday present & I learnt seceretly (ok, not so - her Mum told me), that she was liking something, she saw in shop! I went there & ordered it, description is:- "Transcend T.Sonic 870: 8GB MP3 Player with Voice Recorder & FM Player & 2.4" TFT-LCD Display" - hope I got that right!
That was a week ago, I phone yesterday & said I am coming to collect today.....
Now he tells me "no stock" ! Her birthday is Today! I phone a few electronic/gadget/computer shops & they don't have!!! Is there any online shop here (in Gauteng) where I can get or similar but different brand/make?
I did google but get other strange stuff - am not to clued up on this new gadget stuff anyway!

Someone here on the forum will have access to Pinnacle Micro (PC parts supplier to retailers) and Im sure they can check for you

Get her a lawnmower. Classic gadgetry at it's best. Sure her dad will approve.
 
i beleive they sell those trascend mp3 players at hifi corp

you should likely get them at other electronic shops as well, for example incredible connection
 
screw the ipod, get her a kindle for b'day/xmas combined.
 
If you see one of these around you may want to grab it, the SanDisk Sansa Clip+, awesome little player, and will come in under R500 bucks, plus it has microSD card slot, oh ja, and it sounds better than those apple thingies.

Firstly ... how old is the little girl?

Some other gadgety things to consider:
- a clock radio
- a camera (simple point and shoot, creates interest in photography)

The ipod / mp3 player will be for older kids. They have to use a PC/Mac to get their songs into MP3 format and then move it across to the player. Also, remember that kids blasting an earphone will be prone to damaging their hearing.

Second question ... what's the budget?
