BIS 3.0 coming soon (includes 2-way GMail sync...)

Hi guys,

See that BIS 3.0 is coming soon (21st of March from RIM - see http://crackberry.com/bis-3-0-coming-soon-next-week)! Some of the juicy bits:

IS 3.0 (March 2010):

* Improved the Gmail plugin
* Synchronization deleted messages, read / unread and sent between the box and your own Gmail (so far worked only in the opposite direction)
* The ability to add and remove labels from your device

BIS 3.1 (Soon after):

* Synchronize Google Calendar
* Synchronize your address book from Hotmail account
* Synchronize your address book from Yahoo
* Yahoo mailbox will cause an automatic download of Yahoo messenger on the device

Hopefully it will be in SA soon as well - Vodacom REP, any word??

Yup. The BlackBerry infrastructure for Africa is in Europe, so we get it at the same time, and they generally do Europe a week before North America.

The next couple of hours will be interesting... seeing that RIM requested all the sites that posted the BIS 3.0 upgrades to remove the info, and posted this:

In this doc, there's no mention of the 2 way sync... was it pulled just before the release?!

3.1 updated apparently after reading a site - and sync does work so they tstae on the forum

I'm still not sure about this. I've found 2 way sync does work with gmail but it often takes a while to register. Eg if I delete an e-mail on the website then it takes up to a day but it eventually deletes the copy on my phone. Perhaps it's instant now?
