i recently purchased a blackberry phone, activated the BIS service via my cell c simcard, but allas, immidiately after activating, my number does not make or recieve calls anymore, the BIS service works but no calls: reason for this is cell c have allocated me a BIS service but have disabled my voice service. i have tried for 15 days to resolve this matter and have received endless empty promises. this is my business line now i have to remove my sim and put it in another phone to make calls... annoying!

cell c im extremely dissapointed
15 days, no help:cry:

its by no means a new number, i had it for a year already, my wife also uses cell c and her simcard works (data and voice) on the same blackberry giving me problems.. a bit unfair i tell you....

That's bad, but seeing that BIS is the only thing that is working your heading should have maybe read Cell C disaster....

Can cell c and use vodacom or MTN...

It can be as simple as enabling CSD voice on the network. However in my old Sony Ericson there is settings whether GPRS should be used concurrently with voice or exclusively. If it is GPRS only, then phone is not available for voice receiving and calling.

Check if your phone has similar settings. If it is stored in SIM, it would be the case. Did you try your SIM in other BB phone? That would eliminate network issue.

The fact that you say you can take the sim card out and use it on another phone, kinda indicates that this is a phone specific problem.

Yea that would be my first guess, except that his wifes sim card works in the phone.. Do a sim swap and see what happens.

Does it say something like line 2 ? I forget how to get to it but its something to do with call settings or security settings.

It should work properly when you get it onto line 1.
If not that the use a prepaid vodacom sim on the BB.

cellc sucks

if you have a look at my post with my problem, it still hasnt been resolved and still happens quite regularly. i have given up. best thing to do is move over to another network when you have a chance.

so far what i have done is take my sim out and put it in a blackberry torch, still same results, internet full 3g signal, no phonecalls or sms.. took it out put it in nokia 5800 express, everything working, calls and sms'ses, same simcard, maybe my simcard just had bad luck when i activated bis... *sad* really hope this doesn't happen to anyone else

i googled how to change to line 1 on a blackberry 9300 3g, rocket science stuff... then i phoned cell c asking how this could be done, answer was... phone guess who......

funny enough, thats what im doing as soon as the BIS expires, simplest solution neh...
