BitCo Consumer Review

Interesting, I have a colleague that is about to make the jump from DSTV to Bitco. I wonder how many people are going to take this route.

We are in progress with many more and the next one to come online will be - Fairy glen (Pretoria East)

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping that they could see if they can't adjust the equipment on the high-site 3 to 4 degrees to accommodate me. Well, I tried. Pity that I can't test you connectivity so I can use your Fibre at my Company in Illovo too. :erm:

You would certainly be able to get Fibre or wireless at your offices in Illovo

We have Sandton City as a high site and can connect Fibre or Wireless to anyone in that area :-)

I've just had Bitco at my address for an assessment after having to wait for 6 weeks just to get the same bad news after poking a dish around for about 3 minutes. I can't remember them even pointing it in the direction of Witfield which is fairly close to Boksburg North.

I have had to make myself available for 3 consecutive days just to get the team on site as they cancelled the first appointment without any morning while I was waiting for them to arrive. The second day they did not arrive and did not contact me, I had to contact them.
I have been a Telkom customer for more then 20 years at my current location and was looking at using Bitco as a complete alternative to Telkom, porting my number and giving me high speed Internet Access, but sadly it looks like I will still be stuck with Telkom.

Just strange that in both my and sgsteyn's cases we have been declined with very little feedback or even explanations in spite of Bitco claiming to have increased their coverage.

Anyone know of alternatives to Telkom and Bitco who may be serious about providing good service for customers wanting to establish a long term relationship?

Really eager to upgrade to the 5mb line for home use but the mention of changes coming is a bit scary if upgrade it will be 899 a month, will this be lowered with the change? will it stay the same?

Guys whats going on with the FUP? Does streaming hulu plus affect the FUP? I seem to constantly be on throttled to 2mb. My kids are on youtube sometimes and I know that makes the FUP kick in but last night I was still throttled after an hour of no usage as I was watching DSTV.
 
Just submitted my application. Waited 6 weeks for a line move from Telkom and just got told there is a "technical difficulty" with my address. ie. They don't have hardware at the exchange. Next service delivery for the area 29 April 2015.

Hope I will not be disappointed with Bitco. Have read a bit and saw there are some users who had issue with LOS in Randpark Ridge. Is this still an issue?

So I have some complaints about BitCo (in fact, a truckload), that I would like to share with you all. I have been with BitCo for quite a while now... it's been a few months. Probably about 4-5 months. My first thoughts on this ISP was that it had its flaws. The service was solid but unstable in the sense of having packet loss since my first day (which wasn't that bad at first), but the "solidness" of this service was crushed within the months to come. The packet loss became worse and then eventually disconnections started happening. This became even 'worse' and it became so bad that I had to give up my gaming hobby. (I was playing WoW for months and all my effort is worth nothing because of this ISP) I would have extreme packet loss (almost permanent) and my ping would rise to a steeping 600+ms. This became unbearable and I made a ticket with their ticket system. Oh boy, I was in for a ride that would make me rage so hard. The "wonderful" service that I was granted is something that should be awarded and praised. My simple ticket request for help with this instability issue of my internet became something that would drag out for TWO MONTHS. All I could find out within that time period was that the area I'm in was suffering from congestion. I asked for details on the issues and when it would be fixed. I merely got ****ty responses with as minimal info as possible and I learned that they were “planning” on upgrading the tower in two weeks. To me this wasn’t a solid enough response, because honestly, if they’re only planning to fix it……….. uhm, I don’t see the motivation to fix my issue with this particular response. So, I would continue to ask for some sort of help (since I was being replaced in my WoW raiding team for being incompetent because of my incompetent ISP) until I eventually got ignored by the wonderful, Leonard Monang. Best ticket service ever bro! :twisted:
Then I finally called BitCo's helpline and things got a little better. I found out that the tower's core was being adjusted to and being upgraded. Now, it has been weeks since then and my internet got even worse. I am clueless now. These upgrades were made to clear up the congestion that the tower was suffering from, but why is my internet still a retarded vegetable? It feels like my internet is dying from aids. Seriously. I am disconnecting half of the time (for minutes on end) and I am experiencing packet loss (lag spikes). One problem after the other. I am giving up on this ISP.

So yeah, basically it has come to this. The congestion has been fixed, (according to what BitCo tells me) but still my internet is degrading. Every time I request for help on the matter then they will send me to someone and they say they'll investigate it or check it out but ****ing hell man, you guys are the worst at investigation. I'm sick and TIRED OF THIS SERVICE!

Is there anyone at this company that can help me sort out this problem, ASAP, as making tickets is getting me no where.

I have the same problem, although not so bad. I have the occasional lost packet. It's not that bad and I really hope it isn't going in the same direction as yours. Although I agree communication from Bitco's side is lacking, as I haven't heard anything from them in the last week.

Thanks for the post and Info. When our team does a site survey they are obligated to take 360 Degree photos and signal test to all possible high sites

If you can please PM me your full name and physical address i will download the full report and send it to you so we can investigate together and check if any options are available.

So pricing wont change as such, what would typically happen is speed bumps

I cannot confirm any details at this stage but typically the industry keeps the price the same but simply increases speed for the end user to give greater value for money

I can also confirm that at any stage during your contract if you would like to upgrade or downgrade you can simply do this and keep the remaining term the same.

Thanks for the post on the FUP

A quick check onto your link shows usage from around 2pm yesterday peaking at 5Mbps occasionally, i cant really see on the graphs when you hit the FUP or why but can you monitor again tonight and send me a PM if you hit the FUP?

Remember the FUP is based on the leaky bucket algorithm so all your usage is attributed towards the FUP but its designed to only kick in for unsolicited downloads so should only affect you if your continued usage is high for a prolonged period of time.

If you have people streaming you tube and you are streaming media at the same time this could result in you reaching the FUP

if you like i can send you some usage graphs, just PM me your E-mail address :)

Remember can take up to 7 days if they need to make adjustments although 2-3 working days is typical for handover

I cant comment in more detail until i have done an investigation but i suspect i know exactly which high site you are referring too and the massive upgrade we have been working on.

Your link is very different and you are on the other side of the network, you are connected to a high site located at the back end of PTA and we are experiencing a very weird form of interference on the West side of the high site.

A team has made many adjustments for you already and we are almost there with 100% Stability, i will PM you now and we can check how the link is working
