I've logged it 4x times with technical support already - my Facebooks apps stops working on our 2x Galaxy S5's and 3x Ipad's during the day from around 06:00 - 19:00 (functions's 100% normal on Vodacom's network as well as Wifi at the office), only to then miraculously work again at night...This as such clearly seems to be a Bitco network setting issue (perhaps being seen as P2P?), anyone else experience strange and frustrating things like this?

Yip. Also have an open ticket with support...

I have logged many calls about this. Most of my online games are seen as p2p networks. You won't be able to play until after 18:00. And today being a public holiday. It becomes quite annoying.

I was just now typing a post about this exact same issue. Thouht I was the only one.

I've been only but happy since Bitco handed over my line during October 2014 - the past week was however a nightmare to say the least and there is nothing more annoying than being told it's an issue with my connection when it is clearly a Bitco network issue, experienced by other clients as we, due to some apps not being allowed through by their network filters or whatever it may bel!

On this note, Bitco's offering is really amazing (besides the problems of the past week) but Bitco's Management team and HR team should perhaps listen to the recordings of their support team's interaction with customers, in order to put proper personal development plans etc. in place for them - not only do I sometimes feel like I'm the dumbest &^(* that ever roamed the earth when trying to explain that the issue is not on my end but they also sometimes overpromise and underdeliver by not phoning back following testing as promised and so forth.

Hi Mike

Logged a ticket with support. I really hope they can sort this out. Every morning the speedtest is fine at 4.8 Mbps , however when I get home at night (when no downloads have run for over 8 hours) it drops horribly. It seems to be that there is not enough bandwidth to service everybody in the west rand. Hope I am wrong about that though.

thanks.

Hi

Just an update , after logging the ticket the problem was sorted out in 48 hours. Now my Bitco connection is running flawlessly = havent had any issues in 5 days - so hope it holds :)

thanks.

Wow you're lucky....still waiting for a response from my post for help and spoke to someone at Bitco about the full site survey report (5.5km from Highsites - ~-60 signal by hand holding dish and they say it's too weak, and to top it all off I have a neighbour that's 30meters closer and has got 5mb package thats perfect)....so in the end, it seems Bitco does not want my business or other future potential clients that I was going to refer.

So thank you Bitco for wasting 6 weeks of my time and postponing projects I had planned to utilise the link.

Thanks Gezza. I wonder if that radio interference is caused by Sentech being there by us. Someone should do an investigation.

Unfortunately then it looks like my internet problems will continue. :( Damn and I was so hoping that Bitco would solve it for me.

*edit*

Except! I may be able to connect to a different tower than you! The one there on Beyers Naude! It's closer than the Roodepoort one. Can't you connect to that one too?

Hi Solitude,

If you can see the high site on Beyers Naude you will be 100% as there is very little radio interference in that direction

@ChrisChris, glad you got your link up and running bud!

@Mike, seeing as you're one of the go to guys on the forum :) maybe you could help me? I've signed up for 10MB Home Package, waited 5 Weeks, Installers came out (Very impressed with them - assembled an entire Rocket dish assembly in less than 5 Minutes), they did their tests (Results are very positive, Perfect LOS, No Fresnel Zone interference, etc ...but the only thing they were unable to establish was the distance, which I can confirm is approx. 5.6km [I'm a member of JAWUG and also connect to a person on Roodekrans] ), They were then told to report back to head office and do a full report for the Infrastructure manager (if I remeber correctly)........I'm really hoping to join the Bitco family as I've got a Neighbour thats 100 Meters on the right hand side away from me connecting to the same tower on a 5MB & VOIP line with no hassles.

Please PM me to see what we can do, as their is a definite possiblity of another customer on the same property!

Hi Ray.Dummer,

Thanks for the post

So typically we would have installed your connection immediately based on the details you have listed. The reason the technical team would have had to come back and give a report to management would be based on the specific tower you can see.

That part of Roodepoort is heavily congested with Radio interference and distance to the tower has been shorted to ensure link stability and throughput.

If you have received a decline from my infrastructure team this would be based on the link not meeting our technical parameters.

I will pop you a PM to get your name then we can look at the reports together

I've got a question to ask all Bitco Home users.... Has anyone got a link to a highsites that is great than 5KM? And has got a solid stable link?

Hi Ray.Dummer,

We do have links on the network as far as 8KM with standard client equipment, this is all based on the area and the radio interference on the tower.

In some parts of Johannesburg the interference is so bad we decline links even with Clear LOS

We would rather decline a link upfront than provide a substandard service

From another thread:

The radius's of the circles on their coverage map seems to be around 8KM.

Hi Guys,

Coverage Circles can be anything from 5-7KM all depending on Area

Our developers are continuously working to develop and enhance our coverage map

Yea, perfect again. No idea what happened to it yesterday :p

Hi Pitbull,

Unfortunately we had a Fibre break going from JHB through to PTA on Saterday which would have caused the QOS to work overtime.

Speed test would show low speeds and torrents would be very slow but general web browsing, voice services and streaming media would have been OK using the redundant routes.

The Fibre Team responded and repaired the fault quickly so services had been restored later that day so your connection will be back to normal :)

Hi Charlie600,

We had been alerted to this issue by our technical staff and they confirm they have resolved the issue with Facebook.

Please can you let us know if the problem continues?

Hi Charlie600,

Thanks for the post

Can you possibly PM us with any services / ports you are having an issue with?

We test most games and ensure they are in the highest priority queue but we do sometimes miss certain releases

if you can PM us the details i can ask technical to check ports and buy the game to test on our network

Hi Ray.Dummer,

Thanks for the post and apologies for the delayed response from our infrastructure department

We have very specific technical parameters that need to be met when doing an installation, Unfortunately that specific high site is a big problem for all operators as the radio interference will cause inconsistent speeds and impact overall performance.

BitCo would rather decline your link than provide you a problematic service

We apologise for any inconvenience caused

BEWARE!!!! Bitco and all their RED TAPE...

I am trying to move my current Bitco connection to the new house. Sent Bitco an e-mail over two months ago to request this and as of date nothing is being done. They want me to sign a cancellation form but I do not want to cancel the service I want it to be moved!!!

I have two month left of my 12months contract for a 5MB uncapped connection. They charged me R950 for the moving of the equipment (I paid that). Now they come back and say that if they cannot find line of site I have to pay in cancellation fees that is way more than the 2months I have left on my contract. I don't know what else to do leave it here and hope they get access to the premises??? or take it down myself and drop it off at their offices???

This is the kind of service that I moved away from and hoped that Bitco was better but it seems they are just as BAD!!!!

Now they come back and say it takes over 6weeks... MY F*&CK I APPLIED FOR IT TWO MONTHS BACK (8 WEEKS AGO)!!!!

Hi Loo,

Thanks for the post and apologies for any inconvenience caused thus far.

Please can you send me the ticket number from your original request logged 2 months ago so we can investigate and ensure time lines are honored from the original request.

My technical team will come through and De-install your equipment then go through to your new property and confirm installation LOS.

if we don't find LOS we will bring the equipment back to our offices and contact you to discuss cancellation of the agreement.

we have a cancellation applicable for this but i am sure your R950 would cover it if you only have 2 months remaining in your agreement.

Please send us the PM so we can action on our side

Mike
