Hi No-Rules,
Some good news for you guys in the East Rand
On Sunday morning 05/07/2015 we have successfully completed the deployment of a Dark Fibre connection to our high site feeding most of the east rand network.
This will result in a significant drop in latency and an overall increase in performance

Seems Bitco is now blocking certain torrent trackers completely , cant start my torrents at all , when switching to 3g connection , the torrents starts instantly , not cool Bitco ! , please sort this out , I will log a ticket as well
So,
after weeks of we all know 6.... Bitco is installing tomorrow at Bonaero park just off Atlas road.
Really dreading the sight of a tree so I'll post on the experience for anybody in the Bonaero area.
Anyone that stay in the Bonaero district??(Kempton Park)

Hi Mike,
Any ETA on the fibre upgrade for the high sites on the west rand?

Is there a difference between mybroadband's speedtest and speedtest.net? I was requested to submit another speedtest from mybroadband as the one from speedtest.net is insufficient. As far as I have it mybroadband just uses the speedtest.net plugin (Ookla). It really gives off an air of stall tactics =/
Alrighty, new to the forum, but i have been reading posts here for the last 8 weeks or so as i decided that i should go with Bitco. This is just a post for anyone wanting to sign up but isnt sure about the service or the waiting time.
Basically did the paper work 7 weeks ago, service pretty good, Nadine responded to emails quickly and no issues from that side.
They came through last week and discovered that the ladder they have isn't long enough (I did tell them im on the second floor so it was never going to be a small building). So already they cost me half a day of billing as i work on commission.
So rescheduled for today with a longer ladder, the guys climbed up looked around for a couple of minutes and said no LOS.
So i am disappointed that there is no LOS, and i can deal with that as that's just the way it is. Not pleased with the amount of time to get a no, i totally understand that i knew before hand that it would take so long, but for me to recommend Bitco to any of my clients/friends/family is near impossible. 6 weeks is way to long, and anyone reading this forum that may think it wont take that long it really does take 6 weeks.
Overall it seems like Bitco's service is decent, however Bitco really needs to work out a better method for doing assessments. A 6 week waiting period is a telkom timeline, and that's very poor to me and im sure for a lot of potential customers.
However I am seeing this as a bit of a blessing in disguise as the posts recently on this thread about gaming and the FUP already turned me off of bitco a bit as i am a gamer and i do average about 200 to 400gb a month of downloads.
Anyway, my only option now is basically Neotel or Telkom LTE busniess uncapped, which means a 24month contract to those clowns.

Hi Goat2285,
We have 2 high sites close to your location, one is actually inside Bonaero business park and the other is just outside ORT International airport.
Hope you do have LOS, trees in that area are always a problem.
Best of luck with your LOS test

Hi Guys,
We are in the final stages of testing a DPI on our network. This is a very sophisticated deep packet inspection tool designed to individually identify the data packets and prioritize them accordingly.
We have found ourselves in a position whereby our traditional torrent shaping policy is not working based on the fact many online games now use the Peer 2 Peer protocol for updates and game play.
At the moment you will find the same as it was before whereby Torrents are heavily shaped from 6am -6pm and then open and get faster and faster as the backlog clears.
On weekends torrents are open and the shaping does not apply.
We are confident once we finish this test that only P2P will be affected by the shaping protocol and will be the solution to the problem experienced by some online games.
We will make a formal announcement towards the end of the week once we have concluded the final testing but this DPI is going to benefit everyone on the network.
