BitCo Consumer Review

My installation was booked for tomorrow, just got a call that that a Team is available.

So they are on their way to my house now. :D :D :D :D

Do we have a static IP which can be accessed from general internet? I think I remember something like that being mentioned in the thread but I cannot find it anywhere now.

Yes you do , check on your router , the static ip specified

LOS is there and currently installing, 3 hour installation time? Luckily I still have work until 17:00...

I've signed-up for a 4Mbps 1:1 BitCo link in Bloemfontein. Quick installation, great service, however it has been almost month since the installation was completed and I still cannot go live due to technical difficulties on BitCo network.

I would advise potential Bloemfontein clients whom need to migrate to a better internet connection to be extremely vigilant when considering BitCo. I had no option but to seek assistance from an alternative provider to ensure our network of 150 users had sufficient internet connectivity. There are several other alternatives in Bloemfontein. At this point I am not satisfied and frustrated with BitCo.

Mr. Garth Van Sittert, I've committed to giving you and your team until noon Friday 12/09/2014 to resolve the difficulties.

Is anyone here connecting to the Bitco tower in Northmead (Benoni)? I'm trying to establish exactly where it is, as it is the only tower that is a possibility for me. Here's a Google Street View photo of where their coverage map suggests the tower is -- unfortunately it's a 2009 photo, but it should be either of the three spots shown. BitcoNorthmead.jpg

Can anyone confirm its location?

If you are standing in front of the police campus building they us the tower on the right. I'm connected to it.

Have a look at page 92 it will give you a good overview.

Where is the packet loss happening? Would you be able to post the pathping results?

Here's a result to Blizzard servers, it only shows 1% now, sometimes its way more, but afaik it should always be 0%

Yeah, you are also getting packet loss on your side of the link, looks like between your wireless device and the Cisco, and again on the Cisco. Try the basics first, replace the network cable between the two. Check on the status page of the Wireless router that the WAN port is showing as 100M Full. If that doesn't work I would ask Bitco to bring along a replacement Wireless and switch and swap them out one at a time to see if either solves this issue.

There is loss further down the line but there is nothing you or Bitco can do about those.

Thanks for your reply

I've replaced the network cable a week or so ago... it shows 100m full on the status page, meh just getting a reply from Bitco on my current issue seems impossible, let alone getting them to send someone out and possibly replacing hardware

Maybe the ethernet cable between the cisco and the dish...
Check that its ok and that its maybe not running next to electrical wiring.

Not so impressed anymore. Service handed over and activated today, but the router will only arrive Monday earliest. I hope I will not be charged for the 4 days of not being able to use the service.

The installation team did not carry a router for Nelspruit..
Is this the Wifi Router or the Managed Switch you missing?

My installation got done yesterday and they gave me both, including the Wifi routers box.

Wifi Router. Managed switch (Cisco) installed.
Unless I can use the service without the wifi router?
Yes you can, hence me asking. You will just need to setup your static IP adress and connect to the 1st open port on the switch.

That should work...
