BitCo Consumer Review

Hi CptMilano,

Yes we are planning on building more high sites in that area as you just fall outside our current coverage area.

I will post a public update soon of all the high sites coming online this year as soon as i have the final list with go-live dates

Mike

Hi Mike:

Can you please give us an update on the FUP trail run, and also are you guys looking at upping the packages to accommodate the every growing 4k market? (As a survey portrayed that it requires minimum of 15Mbps line for 4k ready streaming) .

Also to the rest of you guys on BitCo, experiencing P2P slowness from early this morning?

Would love a high speed package for just streaming/browsing.

No P2P but streaming working great.

Not doing P2P much or at all so can't comment. Was downloading Patch 6.1 or 6.2 for WoW yesterday and it was ok. But only realized now I switch my machine off last night... Should have left it downloading

Hi Skippie,

I will have a final update on the FUP by the end of the week and will publish what we are doing moving forward, the feedback we have had from users has been great but we need our technical team to sign off the proposed changes before we move ahead with the roll out project.

On the P2P downloads we have slowed them down during the day to limit the abuse on our network, you will find slow speeds from 6am - 6pm and after 6pm the full speed will be available

We are soon planning on launching some new products being a 15Mbps option for our home broadband, we wanted to ensure we get the FUP 100% before launching some bigger pipes

Sorry Mike , but will this include weekends as well ? . I think this is kinda of a big change to your FUP which have not been communicated as nowhere does it state that you Shape P2P traffic . We got throttled and that was one of the reasons many people signed up as to not get shaped to death on P2P etc ? . I don't normally download in that timeframe except this morning when I ran out of space on one of my drives and had to restart some torrents . Just feel that this could have been communicated and not just implemented .

Feedback definitely not Bitco's strong point. Still waiting on my 10Mbps upgrade. 9 days today.

Hi Sparky_ZA,

We did receive the official upgrade order on the 21st of October, i have personally been monitoring the progress and found it is in the queue for upgrade today.

You will receive an E-mail confirmation from our network department once it has been completed, please PM me if you don't have it completed by COB today.

Hi Noemfie,

This is applicable during business hours so Monday to Friday 6am - 6pm and wont affect you on weekends

This has always been in place and is part of the FUP, we don't mind torrent downloads in the evenings but we need to limit the abuse of large unsolicited downloads during the day.
if you read higher in this thread you will see we have mentioned this a few times before

you will find your P2P will work during the day but will be slow, all services such as general web browsing, streaming of media will be completely unaffected

Recently made a request for the 5mbps but p2p shaping after all that shaping is a turn off. Makes me think twice about signing the contract

The P2P shaping doesn't worry me at all. I got the line primarily for working from home, and streaming services. Both of which it has handled flawlessly. By far the best net connection I have ever had. I think we all understand the reasons for P2P shaping.

+1

I can't see any reason for torrenting in todays times. But hey that's just me. Given I do torrent on the odd occasion myself though. But mainly one movie or so.

Couldn't agree more. To be honest anyway, my throttled Bitco connection is still faster than my ex 4Mbs ADSL. Even when FUP kicks in I'm getting between 200kB/s and 250kB/s. AFAIK, that's pretty darn awesome!

ATT Mike: Sales Order IO104439 #SA00087650

Hi Mike, and other Bitco reps on this forum,

My sales order in the title of this post refers.

In my opinion, and in these days of enabling technology, I have waited FAR too long for someone to contact me regarding making an appointment for LOS/Install. For clarity I am not pushing for an earlier LOS/Install date, but simply trying to plan time into my busy schedule for WHEN this will occur - even if it is 1,2,3 (whetever) weeks from now.

May I perhaps offer a suggestion to resolving this issue:

Your accounts team was quick to prepare the initial invoice, to be put in effect after the installation. As part of the process workflow for doing this, how about giving them access to the installation teams calendar and allow them to create entries right there and then when sending out the first invoice - maybe the sales teams can do this as they have held the relationship with the customer thus far. Clearly the wireless division installation teams are inundated, why not use other resources inside the business to help smooth this process and allow the customers to get early notice of when LOS will be.

Regards,
John
