BitCo Consumer Review

Hi All

The BitCo guys are busy installing (Yes!!! i have LOS)... will upload photos in an hour or two.

Thanks gus for the clarification. Is there anyway the installation process could be sped up? My mother has to work from home in the afternoons, she's busy using 3G, but it's costly. 2 weeks is a lot of data on 3G..

I have not heard the business hours thing. I might have missed it. From my understanding any download at max line speed for an hour continuously would then have you throttled to 1/2 the line speed. Once the Downloads stop for an hour the line speed returns to normal. (I actually agree with this as it minimizes unattended downloads) If you want to download P2P when at work you should expect to not have a full line speed when you get home. Just makes sense.

Yeah I know its not in writing, but see a post from garth below which I found off the first few pages (there were a lot of similar post throughout this entire thread) which creates the idea that their fine with downloading after hours, but yeah like I said I was not downloading for like 2-1/2 hours and my speeds were still slow, but lets hope this issue is sorted now:)
We would consider someone downloading torrents all day and night while away at work as abusing the link, but we have many home users who download at night just fine. A lot of the users we have signed up so far also seem to use Netflix without any problems.

Just had a site survey done by Michael (nice guy) but they never installed. Is that bad news?? Said he needs to get the go ahead. So I don't know what's happening... or is this the norm? If I have to get approved, how long does that take?

Not the norm no, when they came to me, they started installing immediately after they confirmed line of sight

Hi all, photos as promised....

When the BitCo team arrived, they immediately found LOS and started installing. The entire process took about 3 hours! The guys are very polite and work very neat. Excellent service from BitCo!!!!

Was told by Michael he just does surveys then HO say go ahead or not. Sounds more like I do not have LOS. Would have been nice to know either way. @Garth. Could you shed some light on this. Should it have been installed if I had line of site?

Regards

Tyron

Occasionally LOS is not perfect and the survey is sent to someone more senior for confirmation.

We had issues in the past where the team didn't give the correct feedback on site so now we give feedback only after it has been evaluated.

How does bitco anticipate future issues with LOS? Had a problem with Dstv when after 2 years the neighbors tree got too high after a growth spurt!

Lol seriously? They have this new software and monitor the growth of vegetation in every clients garden just incase. They also control the weather.

F uck you man.
I was asking when they do a site visit do they anticipate issues developing later before they approve or it's just your bad luck when circumstances change that you can't control.

Hi tRon

We take this into account when we install. Most trees stop at a certain height, but we never install when trees are just below the fresnel zone.

Hey Garth

Tested the connection last night, everything seems to be back to normal thanks:) What exactly was the problem?

Hi Wikkels88

We have about 10-20 Internet customers close to you that are running perfectly off the same tower. Your link, specifically, had some type of interference on it that came in bursts. We made adjustments on the tower so that you are all running off a slightly different frequency.
