BitCo Consumer Review

I'm sorry. I seem to have missed that you said it was area specific

O wait, you didn't...

AGAIN, PAY ATTENTION

Solitude asked "Steam is not working for me but https://steamstat.us/ says that Steam is up and running. Is anyone else having problems with the Steam store?

NOT

Is anyone else cool with the Steam store?

Has anyone tried FIFA on Bitco? Wanna get people's feedback before I buy it. PES ran absolutely rubbish online.

To which I answered. You then went all tits up about me not being in the same area as him.

Simple, nothing more nothing less. No need to make it your issue now.

Eh OCD is a bit OCD. :p

Don't worry OCD, I just wanted to see who else had problems and the more people that reply the better. We then knew that it was only affecting some of us which means the problem was localised. Luckily everything was fine was yesterday. :)

Can someone explain to my why I keep on being throttled after only 30 minutes?

Most downloads I do should finish in less than 1 hour, but I keep on hitting FUP at 30 minutes which causes my downloads to take over 2 hours to complete.

View attachment 239040

Started my Windows 10 download at 09:07, then hit FUP at 09:37. Also its been sitting at 2mb for over 90 minutes with no sign of returning back to full speed.

This is ****! Like really I cant deal with this any longer.

Happening to me right now, only after a few minutes line is at 2Megs. This is really really really really crappy. If this continues this contract will not be renewed, i heard good things about Sprintnet. Can't pay full price for half the service no man  . Leaky bucket SUX!!

Good Day Peeps

*sigh*........So my installation is happening tomorrow. And now after reading these 282 pages, I'm stressing my @ss off! I really hope this is my answer to Telkom( I'll burn their offices to the ground, I just need a driver for the getaway :P).

The techs were here on monday for an LOS check, got on the roof, done.....no problem. Yesterday tjoon they can do the installation, everything is sharp. Get on the roof and it starts going quiet. They come down, installation is on halt, he needs to leave. (I understand this, ***** happens, so no worries there). But then I get an email saying there was a technical difficulty and the signal is not up to par, and they need to allign a high site. Couldn't they pick that up on Monday? Anyway, so this should be sorted know, since I got another email arranging a time for tomorrow. So far a shaky start, but I got high hopes.

BUT, I also must say, the techs are really friendly and always kept me in the loop, 10/10 for the techs.

They did this for an install i was responsible for. Came through for tests and gave thumbs up, came back again on installation day and bam --there is a problem with the signal it's not lekker enought for management etc etc---. They later on came and finished off the install. So one wonders how accurate the initial tests are then , or what they are meant for if they are not conclusive :erm:

So I wait 6 weeks - the tech arrives yesterday and leaves after 10 minutes. He mumbles something about the signal is not what he expected - they will get back to me. Then I get this mail today - "We take note that a physical site survey was done on the 29/07. Installation could not proceed due to anomalies which needs to be reviewed by our Chief Network Officer.
Your report is being analysed in order for us to determine if the link will perform to our standards or not. It takes approximately 5 working days to review the reports. I will make contact and advise you once I receive confirmation.

I think the issue is, you're the only bitco customer with good service and gaming :D

This sounds accurate! I used to have a great line but it seems like I got moved to a ****ty group which hits FUP in much less than the stated 1 hour.

Now of course most people probably won't notice this and they can't get the proof in order to put up a fight with BitCo. So BitCo would greatly benefit as most people are paying R899 for essentially a 2mb line.

I refuse to believe that.

Sure some people on here have legitimate issues and I want it fixed as much as they do. It saddens me that they are not getting what I'm getting. But I'm confident they are in the minority. Massive assumption I suppose but given my type of service I'm getting, I can't believe that the majority aren't exceptional happy.

I made a suggestion on one of the other posts that Bitco should do a survey and that will give a much better indication if people are happy or not. basics questions around the FUP, how much data roughly do the consume and what services do they use their internet connection for, would they prefer a leaky bucket system or a soft cap and would they consider a capped account over a throttled and shaped uncapped account.

I assume this was dodged because lets be honest here, Bitco is the only one that benefits financially from us paying for something and being limited.

They boast a 1:1 contention, god knows where they get that from but if you ask them about it you will never get an answer. on their website it simply states 1:1 with no other explanation

One other thing, i have not been with many ISP's but i have never heard of the Leaky bucket system implemented by other ISP's here but i could be mistaken.

@Pitbull - Not a personal attack but you praise Bitco way too much while a lot of us have issues with the service. This does not help anyone. If your service works as well as you say it does then we all envy you :-). Unfortunately this is by far the case. i cannot achieve what you seem to be able to on a daily basis.

We all pay for a service that we expect to be delivered. Unfortunately we all can't afford the 10MB upgrade path that seems to be Bitco's solution to everything. Basically they want to give you a 5MB line with a 10MB boost every now and again for R1499

Again, nothing personal :-) but i am sure a lot of other people feel the same way. if there is a problem let Bitco try assist to sort it out or provide a proper explanation. telling everyone how well yours works just makes things worse.

Hi Viashen,

No problem, no offence taken.

This is a review thread and people seem to try and use it to push an agenda. If that's the case it needs to be balanced not so? If you what a Bitco complaints thread create one and I'll stay out of it. But saying things like: "If you're a gamer stay away from Bitco" is not true. You have a problem and I don't. I have proven to people like Sumi who applied for the service but had no LOS that my gaming experience is FLAWLESS. I have even gone through the trouble of creating a 12 minute Gameplay video to show how good it handles gaming on the latency and packet loss side.

If you want I can find that post again with the gameplay in it. I can see people having serious FUP issues and you'll notice I have not once commented on those. I comment on things I have experience in using and post my response to complaints regarding those. Just yesterday I confirmed I also have issues with torrents (I'll admit I haven't checked again).

Maybe a complaints section regarding the service needs to be created then. This is a review thread, not a complaints thread :)

But I get what you're saying and take it to heart.

Thanks Pitbull

Agreed it is a review tread but if you look at the ratio with people having issues vs people who are not on certain items it's worrying

How about that survey idea, i for one thinks it would be a fantastic idea and get a lot of insight on how people feel and how Bitco can better their services :-)

After I upgraded to 10mbps I have never been shaped except when I run torrents. I stream Netflix all night/browse and no throttling.

I have also played csgo for last 3 months online and get 5ms-40ms ping with no issues.

Y'all mofo's gotta stop abusing torrents, if you want to do >400gb per month get something else.

I myself barely torrent anything. Maybe about 5GB worth a month if even that

Upgrading to 10MB seems to fix most of the guys issues but the cost is just crazy, R1499 for a 10MB line and then you still have to watch what you do as you'll b sent all the way back to 5MB. R1499 is a lot of money to spend a month. If the price was more reasonable i would upgrade in a heartbeat and be done with it

Do you stream 4K Netflix or 1080p ?

I'm curious how 4K Netflix would cope on a 10MB

1080p, their site says 25mbps for 4k recommended.

Just got my 5mb link installed today. Don't suppose there is a magic forum fairy that can speed up the soak test time to get the link active? (please)

+1000. A survey would help bring this to light. I don't know how many like this leaky bucket system but i sure don't like it at all. Basically they are saying if you attempt to actually use your line a bit for more than 30 minutes you are crossing some line :wtf: . And to make it worse the leaky bucket also applies to business accounts where we all know there is some heavy windows updates & other update traffic which just means a business will mostly be sitting with half their line speed but still paying full price. Bitco i think you have to consider other options to manage the traffic. Leaky bucket is a big FAIL!

I see everyone talking about a survey on how happy everyone is with Bitco. lets do our own.
using this thread and a google docs surveys and post the results here.
pm me a list of items you all want surveyed and ill put it together.
