BitCo Consumer Review

The issues I had with torrents seem to be Bitlord specific.

I loaded bitcomet on the weekend and yesterday my torrents ran fine.

Hi all,
Wondering if anyone can help me. I've just installed BitCo and want to start torrenting, but my uTorrent just sits there "connecting to peers" and doing nothing further. I've tried to change ports but to no avail.
Are there specific settings required either on Bitco Router or on utorrent that anyone knows of to get the ball rolling?
If I switch over to my 3G or Telkom LTE wifi I connect immediately, so it's something with the new setup on BitCO.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

My Bitlord also doesn't work. Using Bitcomet and that works. Maybe give that a try.

Posts being blocked now for P2P?

I hardly ever torrent, but it sucks that when I want to I can't. Bitco?

Bitco shapes torrents to death, in fact what they do is they forcefully close connections for you.

You'll be lucky to get 50KB/s

It's been flawless on my side over weekends on the odd occasion I used it. The last month though I have either been unlucky with selecting torrents that have ZERO seeds or something else is up. I'll try again over the weekend and then see.

I believe they're blocking it during peak times, been that way for a while now, I manage to by pass this by connecting to a vpn

I don't want to do that though (I can ofc)

I want to use it when it's ok for them to let me use it, but then let me know when at least. That is why I normally left it to Saturday evenings and Sunday mornings. But if that's a busy time for them they should just let me know and I'll run them between 12am and 6 am in the week on the rare occasion that I do use it.

The network has been terrible lately, random spots where there is no connectivity. Extreme slowness in streaming, youtube, netflix, hulu etc. Even app store downloads are dog slow

My contract is over and i'll be on month to month now at least

Bitco has bitten of more than it can chew i believe but thats just my view :-)

Well I hope that BitCo comments about Pitbull's torrent problem. He has been the biggest supporter of BitCo and I'd like to see BitCo treat him the same as he did them.

I've been lucky so far. I don't use torrents and my connection has been very good over the last month.

Hi Guys,

Sorry for the late reply to all the posts, i will take some time to go back and respond to as many as possible.

of those of you who mention you have connection issues can i request you log this with [email protected] so the technical team can investigate your connection & escalate if necessary?

I can confirm we have no network issues and have been progressing very well on upgrades, for those of you who are in PTA we have upgraded capacity significantly to accommodate all the new high speed connections on our network & can confirm you would have noticed a drop in latency as more Fibre came online last week.

some answers to the recent posts:

1: Torrenting, i can confirm nothing has changed on our network with regard to Torrents, we allow torrent access from 7Pm - 6am week days and on weekends from Friday night at 7Pm to Monday morning 6Am.
i have personally tested torrents from various sites and have had no issues.
If anyone is experiencing an issue please can you give your Utorrent client a full restart and if the problem persists please contact [email protected]

2: ShowMax Streaming, We can confirm showMax streaming is tagged as video on our network and is in a high priority quality of service, this should allow for streaming perfectly at all times of the day & night.
I haven't been able to personally test it yet but i know of several users who have confirmed no issue.
Please let us know if you have an issue so we can look into it carefully but suspect the DPI will automatically mark the packets as high priority

@Bitco.

I am one of those users who do not like torrents at all and do not partake in un-monitored downloads. I use my internet for Vidi Streaming at 460p and online gaming.

Only time when I do the proverbial download is when ESO has big game updates like the 5.4gig patch today.

What should have taken me 2.5 hours or so on my 5 meg line to download has now take well over 6 hours. I started to download the patch at 17:30 and it is now 23:30.

Is there not a way where we can notify you of gaming downloads and have full line speed just for those type of patches?

If they're going to change policies as they see fit, I'm going to improvise:p Nah just kidding, just tested out if interest sake if they still managed to block it if I went through a vpn... Luckily my last month with Bitco, then I can play some CS again WHooooohoooo

Once again a perfect example of the FUP not working as advertised on the 5mb line. I am 100% convinced that the bull**** is only happening on the 5mb line and they always give the excuse to upgrade to 10mb which will solve everything.

Tonight I got home at 17:40, switched on my machine and found a Dota 2 update of 5.8GB. This download starts at 17:48, I kid you not but exactly 30 minutes later I am being throttled to less than half my line speed.

Now I have also escalated this issue with Bitco as the normal support tells me that after thorough investigations, nothing is wrong with my line. So I escalated the issue and still waiting for them to investigate the issue:

Good day Louis

Thank you for making contact with us.

Kindly note that I have escalated your query to our Operations Manager - [email protected] . We kindly ask for an opportunity to investigate the matter, contact will be made with you as soon as possible.

Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience you have experienced.

Kind Regards,

The last mail received from them was on the 5th of August, so they are still investigating the issue all while my debit order is going strong...

That sucks

Would you please report back when you get an answer from them. I would be very interested to see how this gets resolved.

I've seen this 30 minute thing happen on our 5Mbps business account for one of our branches when windows 10 came out

Hi louispires,

We are terribly sorry that you had not yet received appropriate feedback from us on this matter, your escalation last night made us aware of a breach in our communication. This has resulted in a delay in investigations on your link and we once again apologise for the inconvenience. Please know that we have core technicians investigating this right away and will revert back to you as soon as possible. We thank you in advance for your continued patience on our overdue response. At this stage we are not sure if we will have a finite answer for you today but will give you daily updates until this matter is resolved.

Kind Regards
BitCo
