BitCo Consumer Review

Showmax is Down on Bitco.

My PC, Phone, or TV cant play or connect to Showmax.
On my Phone if I switch to CellC 3G (Terrible connection of 1-2mbps) Showmax works 100%

Please FIX its been going on for a week now. I am having TV withdrawals !!!

It took me a week with showmax fighting before I realized it was you and not showmax..

Innuendo

Bitco seems to have some unique weird connectivity problems of its own

Hi BitCo

I use BitCo's DNS and I definitely had problems over the last week. Like Steam not loading and so forth. In fact on Friday evening it was Steam and the usual list like Telegraph.co.uk. I now send an email to your help desk every time it happens just to let you know that it's happening. So you can't say that you had no reported issues since I reported it every time. :(

Hi Solitude,

Apologies for the oversight. We will liaise with the technical and support teams on reports logged in this regard. Thanks for the update. Thank you especially for reporting via the official channel, this is a massive help.

Kind regards,

BitCo

Before it looks like I complain to much I must say that BitCo is the best internet I've ever had at home. I don't have to deal with Telkom and most of the time it's a joy to use. So keep up the good work.

Lightning strike :'( lots dead including bitco.

Our internet was also on and off a bit between about 21:00 and 22:30. I eventually went to sleep. These storms are amazing so I can do with the odd interruption to view the spectacular lightning displays :o

Hi All,

We have conducted several in-house tests with Steam as we have had a few reported cases of problems with downloads and connectivity. We can confirm that we have found no errors with regards to ports, protocols or interconnects. Without more information, there is little else we can do in terms of knowing what to test for.

We have noticed that the majority of Steam servers are hosted with MWEB. As “Fall Out 4” has just been released we suspect there could be a correlation with the two from very high use of the servers.

In order for us to identify and correct any problems on our Network with Steam, information is vital. We urge you please to log an official support ticket via [email protected] with as much detail as possible as to what you are experiencing. The time of the incident, the type of fault (slow, disconnects, incomplete), which Game, PC vs Console. In the realm of diagnostics, more is more.

Regards,

BitCo

Thank you for this feedback Solitude!

Cisco switch replaced and backup and running.

+1 for Bitco support
Was it hit by lightning? Did you have any of your internal devices directly connected to the LAN ports of the Cisco router by cable? If it was a lightning strike and there were devices on the LAN ports was there any damage to those internal devices?

I have deviced a plan for one of our branches to ensure if lightning strikes our antenna it'll get stopped before it gets to the rest of the LAN equipment.

Hi,

From my experience of BITCO, can I please advise anyone looking for WiFi internet NOT to even consider BITCO. It is totally rubbish!!! When I signed up they advertised that they prioritize video streaming. My thoughts was that this would be great for YouTube, Apple Facetime, etc. this was definitely NOT the case!
The moment I open my tablet, the first message I get is "your internet connection is unstable". Bitco's response is that there is a lot of interference in my area. What did they do during the 5 day soaking period??? Obviously they didn't test the quality of the connection. I think the only time that I get a somewhat decent download speed is after 12am to 5am.
Yes I did get a R200 discount on my monthly fee but constantly struggling to even open facebook (not even mentioning videos shared on Facebook) is extremely frustrating. I rather switch off the WiFi and use mobile data.
Another misleading claim... 99% uptime. Hahaha, rubbish again! I often have to switch of the router and restart to try and re-establish connection.

So please spare yourselves the frustration and keep looking for another WISP.

Not sure of the source as it hit a tree not even the house. Only the Cisco switch and my speakers on the UPS died.

The trick to BITCO is the following..........location location location.

If you lucky and your LOS is perfect like myself (600m from base,Signal Strength -50dbm, no Fresnel zone to speak of ) then you proceed with the service, if not... move on, no use farting against thunder.

Hi jvjaarsveld,

We will DM you shortly to obtain your details. We would like to look into your history so we can ascertain what has given rise to this experience you have reported. We are sorry that your experience has been poor. We would please need ticket numbers of service queries you have logged as well if you don’t mind supplying that.

We would sincerely like to investigate this further as we are very strict with the soak and testing before installation to ensure we can supply the services promised. While this may sound like a cop out, please be assured it is not, your experience reported here sounds like there is something else at play as it is not our standard.

Thank you in advance,

BitCo

Dear BitCo Clients,

This post is a courtesy update regarding Showmax. We would like to inform you that we are testing this service for ourselves on numerous Home links. As with our request regarding Steam, we ask please that concerns are raised via an email to [email protected] which is constantly monitored and will yield faster responses than this unofficial communications channel. When doing so, please provide as much detail as possible to assist us with more efficient diagnosis.

Feedback will be provided via this forum once we are comfortable and confident with the results of our tests.

Regards,

BitCo
