BitCo Consumer Review

After a long process of discussion, we signed for Business Fibre on 22 September 2015. We still don't have our fibre up and running!

I have to commend DFA as they were extremely efficient once they finally got to trenching and pulling the fibre through just on a week ago.

I am hoping that once we are up and running that the after installation service will not be like the pre- and post-sales service. We do not get regular feedback. People just arrive without warning 90% of the time. One of the people that we met with came here for nothing as we were told to do the networking at a site survey, meanwhile that seemed to have not been the case. However, by the time the consultant for the networking was contacted and met with us we had already completed all the networking thank goodness or this would have meant more delays. At times it seems that the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.

So, watch this space - once we are eventually up and running with our fibre (VoIP and Internet) perhaps my tune will change. I am hoping that this will be the case and I can sing Bitco's praises!!

I've never been able to get my XBox One to play multiplayer with BitCo. Well except once a couple of months ago. I kept having a moderate NAS on the network diagnostics. I enabled UPnP on the router though and suddenly I had an Open NAS for the first time! I was able to play multiplayer for the first time.

However this afternoon I wanted to play again and now I get an error in network diagnostics: "Cannot get a Teredo IP address". And suddenly I'm on a strict NAS.

Please if someone can help me. It was supposed to be a relaxing off day and yet I've struggled most of the day trying to get it to work. I've emailed BitCo but hopefully someone here will see this and know what to do.

Okay no, I set the port forwarding for all the ports that anyone has ever mentioned for the XBox One and it still doesn't work. BitCo please help.

I just don't know what to do anymore. I've hard reset the XBox and tried different port forwarding methods. Nothing.

Huge regret leaving Bitco. Guys be careful when deciding to move to other providers.

Only downside to Bitco IMO is the lack of after hours service.
That said its the best internet I've had in 10 years. Beats the hell out of Helkom on all levels.

Been on this for a few months now and must say I cant really complain about the service.

Now that I see this thread again. BitCo is busy looking into the XBox problem if anyone else is experiencing it.

Can anyone recommend a replacement router for home use. The cisco is giving some problems.

I use the Cisco provided by bitco and a d-link as a switch & wifi booster. Prior to that I was very happy tp-link but they were adsl routers.

Why replace Amobia - were they not that great?

I didnt like their attitude - they wanted to charge R450 to do a LOS - and i had to fill in all the forms before they even come out.

Thanks Elro. But I need to replace the Cisco router it's giving me problems and need to know what other modem I can use did log a ticket and Cisco out of warranty and they can replace it I need to buy another one.

I think my Cisco switch gave in on me... The system light is blinking the whole time and I have no Internet access at all... Anyone have any advice?
Did log a ticket in bitco help desk under category home broadband, but not sure if I'm going to get help since they not selling the home wireless solution anymore!

I'm very happy to say that I got an email from BitCo yesterday and they fixed my XBox One connection problems. This morning my NAT was open and the multiplayer test ran without any problems. Great work BitCo!

Logged a ticket, an hour or so later a tech called. Tried trouble shooting no luck. A few minutes ago connection restored!

Well done Bitco - didn't think I would get Sunday support.. Impressed .

Thank you

Does anyone have screenshots of all the settings pages?
I've managed to screw something up after being told to change a few things by Bitco Support and like an idiot, ive lost my record of my original settings that were at least working.
Please PM me if you can help.
Thanks.
