Black Friday online deliveries tested

One of the biggest events on the annual shopping calendar - Black Friday - took place on 27 November this year.

Black Friday typically results in a massive frenzy of shoppers who try to buy their targeted deals before they run out of stock.

I think Amazon and Aramex must be struggling with the amount of orders they got due to the discount they offer South Africans.

Amazon
Ordered 22 Nov: Not yet delivered
Ordered 22 Nov: Not yet delivered
Ordered 27 Nov: Not yet delivered

Aramex are so useless its not funny lol.

18 days to clear a package through customs. Now its cleared and going to their delivery depot (OR Tambo to Bedfordview). So I phone to ask why its not delivered, lady says "it takes about 3-4 days to move from the airport to the delivery office"

How these people are even in business is beyond me...

I think that is why Amazon put an estimate delivery date as more than a month later. They know you could get delays due to problems with customs and delivery companies.

Amazon has so much stock you can choose exactly what you want, with but the wait and the worry that what you order will be working and be delivered is what is stressful.

Aramex's tracking for my orders is woeful. One order the last tracking entry is in US. The other order's last status update is 5 days ago in UAE. And the 3rd order is in Sandton with the same status update of clearing customs processing 3 times. There is just no consistency.

I am worried they cannot handle the amount of packages that Amazon is sending them.

I am so wrong.

This was not Amazon though, it was a normal Aramex Express package.

I just don't understand how UPS, Fedex, DHL etc can get packages from the US here in 5-6 days including customs clearance and Aramex can't do it less than 25 days....

Even Amazon via DHL and FedEx are taking their time. It also appears that some delivery options now ship from the warehouse to DHL’s closest airport link to their US international hub via some other service whereas it used to be DHL from the warehouse directly. Cost saving I reckon - all the delivery options have massive delivery windows of late.

Yeah I ordered a server from Amazon on the 22nd October. The delivery date came and went. It's now updated to sometime in December. And Aramex tracking has last updated on the 26th October, saying it left Amazon facility.

Update on my orders

Ordered 22 Nov: Not yet delivered
Ordered 22 Nov: Not yet delivered
Ordered 27 Nov: Not yet delivered

That was suppose to read:
I see its coming via UPS with delivery ETA 8 Dec.....

And was actually delivered today after placing the order on 27th nov via expedited.
I know. Just having some fun.

By the way: :p (Not that I am anyone at all to point fingers as I am guilty as well).
It's is a contraction of “it is” or “it has.” Its is a possessive determiner we use to say that something belongs to or refers to something. ... But the rules are very clear—it's is the same type of contraction as “where's” or “there's,” and its is a possessive just like “my” or “your.”

Ordered from Amazon on the 26th, shipped DHL express shipping.
They only picked up the package on the 1st of December and arrived yesterday.

so

I see it is coming via UPS with a delivery ETA of 8 Dec.....

or

I see it has shipped via UPS with delivery scheduled for 8 Dec.....

kinda what happens after too much intellisense and coding. shrugs.

My Amazon order placed on Black Friday 27 Nov is still stuck in customs.

So no Christmas present for me. Oh well. Will have to wait until next year.
