Black Screen and PC freezes

Well the only other thing I can do is swop the GPU's and see if it does the same thing in my rig.

I just want reassurance that it's either a farked Win 10 and I have to do a fresh re-install or it is the GPU
and I have to start looking around for a MSI RX580 Gaming X card.
 
Once you can rule out the GPU, Ram & PSU are your other items to rule out. I test everything before re-install....
 
That is the thing,I'm not sure that it is modded but I read that it is a mining card and I want to revert it back to stock.

Dump the bios and hash it against a known stock one with the same version number to be sure.
 
Das is what I also gonna do.If it bricks then at leatst I can buy proper GPU.

By dumping the bios I mean save what's in the bios onto your hdd and hash it for comparison against a known stock onve with the same version number. There's no flashing involved here.
 
Hi guys,

Okay so I re-installed Windows 10 and still the same problem.
I ran memtest....Now my son's PC had 2x 4gb G-Skill DDR3 1600mhz sticks in.
Then I added 2x 1gb ddr3 133mhz RAM but the PC didn't give any problems.

It is just after I changed from X-fire to the Biostar card that the freezing strated.
But what confuses when I have all the RAM installed and I run Memtest it gives errors.

He had the 2x 4gb and 2x 1gb sticks in with the 2x 7850's and it didn't freeze up in the past.

Must I take out the 2x 1gb sticks and run it like that because like I stated it didn't gave any problems in the past.

Something is telling me this card was mined with and got little crispy hot or am I wrong.
As a last resort I'm gonna swop my RX580 into his pc this weekend and run his card in my pc to see if it does
the same in my rig.

It doesn't implicate that Biostar card is faulty. Plugging a new card could lose poor contacts in memory slots or a CPU socket. Or PSU as suggested.

Unplug power cord, remove RAM and clean contacts using a soft pencil eraser. Then clean contacts with alcohol to remove debris from the eraser. Then run Memtest again against full set of RAM. If you still get errors, then test with two matching pairs to determine which pair is faulty, then individual modules separately from the failing pair.

Also use other memory slots for testing a bad pair to see whether result depends on the slot. It it does, it would indicate poor contact on CPU.
 
I was going to suggest PSU but i see many have already said that.
If you havent tried swapping out PSU do so as a test, i would start with this 1st and proceed from there

Can the RAM be faulty although Bios picks it up and Windows picks it up in Device manger?

Reason I'm asking is like stated before that the complete set ran with the 2x 7850's but didn't give this freezing problem.

But when I tested with Mmetest I got errors and a LOT of them but couldn't make out which stick(s) is giving problems?

And must the tests be so long on Memetest?Haven't used the program before this issue so I'm a bit in the dark..

Remove all but one, test, change, repeat. Should let you know which is faulty, lucky for you should be a cheap replacement, but try not to mix different speeds or clocks of ram.

BIOS do quick checks for size and setup operational parameters. Testing memory is a lenghty process. A reason is that a faulty cell do not always give errors. Reading is unstable, it depends on a charge of the neighbouring cells. To detect such crosstalk you should test all combinations. It is impossible, so testing program use special test patterns that are more likely to detect a fault.

Test sticks in pairs, place it in correct sockets (read mobo manual or follow colour of the sockets), if you get errors, test sticks separately. This is how you can determine a faulty stick.

Gather SPD data and post it here. Put a pair of sticks with a slower timining in the first channel. Some BIOS's will only read SPD of the first channel, so slower sticks may not be able to keep up.

When power supply is overloaded, it gives extensive noise on the supply rails. A noise can affect reading logic state of cells. It is why it is a wise to test with another power supply.
 
Right......used memtest and tested all the modules at once and memtest show the 1333mhz had a 147 errors.

Don't know which of the 2 it is but will test each module on all 4 slots but can say that I think this is the problem.
I only ran 1 pass on all the modules when I got the errors.
 
Sure it is. One single error can give you lot of problems.
 
Okay,so the 2x 1gb modules were the culprits.Crap load of errors on them and on the GSkill modules no errors.

No more freezing and happy days.
Now to get 2x 4gb modules....
