BlackBerry data limits quietly implemented on Telkom Mobile

Telkom Mobile has quietly introduced a fair use limit on its BlackBerry Internet Service

Completely agree.

I use around 800mb of data on my S4 a month. Connected to WiFi a lot of the time too.

I haven't seen an update. Personally 100 is to low a gig is at reasonable. Dealing with actual abuse should be the goal

Jip, that's it. None of their other smartphone contracts have any decent data bundles included. Very sad state of affairs.

That limit NEVER got implemented and was widely reported as such at that time.

It's actually scary how that (bloody stupid idea) is still lingering today. Vodacom contemplated it, but never implemented it.

I do shape certain protocols after a pretty big number but these do not include the normal BIS stuff like mail, browsing, etc. Big file downloads, for sure. Like the chap who did 300GB of movies in one month.

Nope, see above.

BTW, when the '100MB' FUP was contemplated in 2011 or 2010, the average BIS usage was below 20MB.

Today is *substantially* more.

Between the previous (2011) and this (2012) article you'll find statements from Vodacom that the 100MB concept was never implemented. In any case, it's my design and I can tell you categorically there is no 100MB cap or FUP.

As I said, I can't recall an update to repudiate that article - I do recall that Vodacom contradicted the number as a cap and I formed the impression that at 100 megs they'd start thinking about throttling you based on the overall capacity available and that your ordinary BB user of 200 megs or so wouldn't notice a degraded service based on usage.
