Hi All

Just wanted to know what is your average BB data usage per month. I am thinking of getting an equivalent MTN data plan for my Android. Will use it for e-mail, Twitter, Facebook and occassional web surfing.

How do u even check that?

On your BB:

Options -> Status and then type "buyr" . You will then see how much data you used , i think that is since you got the phone. I've had my phone about 2 months now and i'm sitting on 286MB , so i'd say 150MB per month should be fine if you're not doing crazy stuff like streaming videos. I most likely use less than that since my first month i downloaded a heap of applications which i most likely won't do again soon.

On average i use between 400 and 600 megs a month. On my android phone now i use about 30 megs a day, BUT IT IS STILL NEW SO I am probably downloading unneccesary stuff.

I'm not sure you can use a mb to mb comparison as RIM compresses all the data that the blackberry uses.

Mine says: "Exceeded 1048576K".

No idea, here's an article wondering the same, apparently it's something to do with some old Warranty thing

http://m.crackberry.com/exceeded-da...-status-screen-type-b-u-y-r-quest-ce-que-cest
what you'll see are actual figures of data used and minutes of voice used. Some googling around found that **maybe** this exceeded message (which can't be reset as far I know) is related to an old warranty/return type thing from RIM - once you've used over 60minutes voice/250k data the device is yours to keep whether you like it or not. But not all devices seem to show this message even when going over the limits.

and the reason might be related to
this is because a phone with less that 60 minutes on it can still be sold as "new." I assume the data usage is for the same purpose. Hope that helps.

Please remember that Blackberry data is compressed by the BB servers and therefore substantial savings on data traffic is obtained. Data usage on a Android phone will be higher as no compression is utilized on that platform.
