Hi, I am tempted to buy a Blackberry that is unlocked from the UK, but the maps will be for the UK, is there a way I can remove the UK maps and replace it with the standard issue for SA???

Any advise here would be great,

Thanks

Not certain but if you flash it with the MTN/Vodacom firmware you should be fine. Although it may not be necessary on my Bold it says I'm using the European maps and SA is fully covered on mine so I guess they're combined anyway.

is the firmware downloadable?

Do you enjoy your Bold, I am not sure if I should go with the Bold or Curve...

with R69 unlimited from Vodacom, can I use it as a modem and download as much as I want for R69 ???

that unlimited data is for on-device browsing, i don't think modem tethering works, you'll get charged out of bundle. There is an app called tetherberry that claims to use your BIS data but i haven't tried it so i can't confirm. The blackberry maps will work anywhere, and depending on your local sp you;ll get either mtn maps or vodafone maps (vodacom offers prepaid bb services, don't know about mtn)
